HiBuR ("connection" in Hebrew) is a voluntary student program. HiBuR's main purpose is to forge connections between students of the Israel Institute of Technology (Technion) and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) by offering joint educational activities and practical experiences at both universities.
Student Exchange – One of Hibur's current endeavors is to establish a program that provides students the opportunity to study abroad. This experience will enable students to:
Hibur’s internship program offers students the chance to live, study and work in a foreign country. Internship departments in Boston and Haifa strive to find the best match for the students when placing them in corporate and academic environments in Israel and the United States.
As a result of faculty and student interest MISTI Archived 2007-02-10 at the Wayback Machine decided to create MISTI Israel in the Summer of 2008.
The Haifa Department, with the collaboration of MISTI Israel, helped find internships for MIT students in Haifa-based high-tech companies and Technion campus laboratories,
Hibur’s joint educational activities including video lectures, workshops, delegations, and various enrichment and higher learning opportunities, form an integral part of the program.
Video Lecture – Throughout the academic year, Technion and MIT researchers give online, dynamic lectures in real-time about the latest research in their fields of expertise. The video lectures are available to the greater student body and do not require prior background knowledge.
Teaching Assistant Workshops – Every year, MIT conducts a workshop focusing on improving the quality of academic classes. These workshops are geared to teaching assistants and professors alike. In the past, Hibur organized online workshops in which Technion teaching assistants and professors exchanged ideas and information with their MIT counterparts
Delegations – Every year Hibur sends an Academic delegation of approximately eight to fifteen students to the Technion and MIT to exchange ideas, knowledge, and perspectives with students at the visited campus. This delegation provides a great resource for students to swap information regarding their universities, native countries and ongoing research projects.
BizTEC & 100K – The Technion holds a yearly entrepreneur competition called BizTEC. The ten finalists of BizTEC then have the opportunity to compete in the equivalent entrepreneur competition at MIT, The MIT 100K.Entrepreneureship Competition. In order to compete, participating groups must have at least one representative from the university that holds the competition. Hibur’s programs offer students from the Technion and MIT the opportunity to connect and form groups that can work well and participate together in competitions at both universities.
Joint Academic Projects – Hibur’s online platform unites students from the Technion and MIT who would like to collaborate on final projects within similar disciplines. Students can perform research, write, and exchange information through Hibur’s website. Hibur also assists with the logistics involved in connecting researchers with students from each university and building joint intercontinental projects.
MathWorks – Hibur has implemented a preparation course, which has helped hundreds of students, in Matlab for the Technion pre-university refresher program. Matlab, developed by MathWorks Inc., is a technical computing software program used by engineers and scientists.

The Technion is ranked as one of the top universities in both Israel and the Middle East, and in the world's top 100 universities in the 2022 Academic Ranking of World Universities.

Technion International (TI) is the international department of Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, which was ranked as the best university in Israel and the Middle East. Located in Haifa, Israel, Technion International was founded in 2009 in order to oversee Technion’s international academic endeavors. Technion International offers a variety of programs, including "full undergraduate and graduate programs, postdoctoral fellowships, study abroad programs, summer programs for gifted teens, research internships as well as entrepreneurship programs". As of 2018, "Technion has academic collaboration agreements with 232 universities in 41 countries and 36 medical school agreements".
The Commission for Educational Exchange between the United States of America, Belgium, and Luxembourg is located in Brussels, Belgium, with the office situated at the Royal Library Albert I. It is a not-for profit organization that is responsible for administering Fulbright grants for citizens of Belgium and Luxembourg. It also serves as the EducationUSA Advising Center in Belgium.
The Rohr Jewish Learning Institute (JLI) is a division of Merkos L'Inyonei Chinuch, the educational arm of the Chabad-Lubavitch Orthodox Jewish Hasidic dynasty. It offers adult Jewish courses on Jewish history, law, ethics, philosophy and rabbinical literature worldwide. It also develops Jewish studies curricula specifically for women, college students, teenagers, and seniors.
Sadjad University is one of the most reputable universities in Mashhad, Iran. Founded in 1995 in Mashhad, it has always ranked first among the non-governmental universities of the country in the rankings released by the Ministry of Science. It is also the first university in Iran originating from an industrial research center which still functions as the university's research core.
The Cadets for Municipal Service program in Israel is a joined initiative in Israel between the Israeli government and few NGOs, that was created with the goal to train a cadre of dynamic new municipal leaders for Israel's periphery. The goal of the program is to give excellence students not only academic training, but the tools, understanding, sensitivity and leadership qualities to deal with the complex municipal environment in under-served communities in Israel. The program was conducted in order to improve the quality of the human power in the weak municipalities of Israel.
Yossi Dashti (born in 1952) is an Israeli-American author, researcher, and business facilitator, in the field of computer information systems, innovation and entrepreneurship. In his books and publications, he promotes value creation and process improvements, while integrating academic research and practical technology innovation business experience. In his early career, Dr. Dashti was engaged with Information Technology (IT) and software applications and was among the pioneers in the development of Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) and E-Commerce platforms. Since 2008, he has been actively promoting China-Israel collaboration in academia and industry, teaching in several universities and setting technology transfer in the two countries. His engagements and contribution to the China Israel relationship are presented and exemplified in his book titled “Jewish Principals, Innovation and Entrepreneurship – China-Israel Collaboration Opportunities”. Dr. Dashti has also been involved in social activities, mainly in the field of education, serving as a board member of several associations.
Yonina C. Eldar is an Israeli professor of electrical engineering at the Weizmann Institute of Science, known for her pioneering work on sub-Nyquist sampling.
Dr. Maor Farid is an Israeli scientist, engineer and artificial intelligence researcher at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, social activist, and author. He is the founder and CEO of Learn to Succeed for empowering of youths from the Israeli socio-economic periphery and youths at risk, a regional manager of the Israeli center of ScienceAbroad at MIT, and an activist in the American Technion Society. He is an alumnus of Unit 8200, and a fellow of Fulbright Program and the Israel Scholarship Educational Foundation. Dr. Farid was elected to the Forbes 30 Under 30 list of 2019, and won the Moskowitz Prize for Zionism.
The Haifa Center for German and European Studies (HCGES) is a joint project of the University of Haifa and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). The Center was founded in 2007 and opened in June 2008 by the Federal Foreign Minister Frank Walter Steinmeier. It is part of the [ Research Authority of the University of Haifa cooperating with the faculties of humanities, social sciences and law. The founding idea of the Center is to provide students, research, academics and the general public with information about modern Germany and Europe. Therefore the Center is holding public events as well as academic conferences and workshops. It also conducts its own interdisciplinary research with a focus on social, political, legal, economic and cultural developments in Germany and Europe after 1945. The HCGES is part of the global network of DAAD Centers for German and European Studies.
The Technion's Faculty of Architecture and Town Planning was established in Haifa in December 1924, as one of the Technion’s first two departments. The program trains architects, landscape architects, urban planners, and industrial designers. Urban planning and industrial design are offered as advanced degrees.
