In the United States, Office of Inspector General (OIG) is a generic term for the oversight division of a federal or state agency aimed at preventing inefficient or unlawful operations within their parent agency. Such offices are attached to many federal executive departments, independent federal agencies, as well as state and local governments. Each office includes an inspector general and employees charged with identifying, auditing, and investigating fraud, waste, abuse, embezzlement and mismanagement of any kind within the executive department.
The Uganda Police Force is the national police force of Uganda. The head of the force is called the Inspector General of Police (IGP). The current IGP is Martin Okoth Ochola. Ochola replaced former IGP, General Kale Kayihura in March 2018. Recruitment to the forces is done annually.

It was renamed to inspect-general of police in 2012, to serve as the head of the two police bodies of Kenya for a four-year term. The Kenya Police Service and the Administration Police Service is also headed by a deputy inspector-general who is appointed by the president of Kenya and approved by the parliament. The current inspector-general is Hillary Mutyambai, who is the third holder of the IGP position.
Rao Sardar Ali Khan is a Pakistani civil servant and police officer who served as inspector-general of police (IGP) of the Punjab Police. He served from 8 September 2021 to 22 July 2022. He is currently serving as IG of Railway Police of Pakistan.
