Hillas Hut is a heritage-listed historic site at Hillas Creek, Adelong, Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council, New South Wales, Australia. It was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 2 April 1999.^[1]

Adelong is a small town in the Riverina region of New South Wales, Australia, situated on the banks of the Adelong Creek. Adelong sits on the Snowy Mountains Highway and is a part of the Snowy Valleys Council. At the 2016 census, Adelong had an urban population of 943.

Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council is a local government area located in the South West Slopes and Riverina regions of New South Wales, Australia. The council was formed on 12 May 2016 through a merger of the Cootamundra and Gundagai shires. Originally named Gundagai Council, the name was changed Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council on 7 September 2016.

New South Wales is a state on the east coast of Australia. It borders Queensland to the north, Victoria to the south, and South Australia to the west. Its coast borders the Tasman Sea to the east. History

Hillas Hut is a timber slab hut on Yabtree Station dating from prior to 1835. It was built from local materials. James Hillas, the son of owner John Hillas, was murdered in the hut in 1835. It was used as a blacksmith's workshop after 1859. It forms part of the Yabtree Farm complex today.^[2]

Hillas Hut was listed on the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 2 April 1999.^[1]

The New South Wales State Heritage Register, also known as NSW State Heritage Register, is a heritage list of places in the state of New South Wales, Australia, that are protected by New South Wales legislation, generally covered by the Heritage Act, 1977 (NSW) and its 2010 amendments.
