Hingurakgoda Divisional Secretariat is a Divisional Secretariat of Polonnaruwa District, of North Central Province, Sri Lanka.
Sinhalese people are an Indo-Aryan ethno-linguistic group native to the island of Sri Lanka. They were historically known as Hela people. They constitute about 75% of the Sri Lankan population and number more than 16.2 million. The Sinhalese identity is based on language, cultural heritage and nationality. The Sinhalese people speak Sinhala, an insular Indo-Aryan language, and are predominantly Theravada Buddhists, although a minority of Sinhalese follow branches of Christianity and other religions. Since 1815, they were broadly divided into two respective groups: The 'Up-country Sinhalese' in the central mountainous regions, and the 'Low-country Sinhalese' in the coastal regions; although both groups speak the same language, they are distinguished as they observe different cultural customs.
Poḷonnaruwa, also referred as Pulathisipura and Vijayarajapura in ancient times, is the main town of Polonnaruwa District in North Central Province, Sri Lanka. The modern town of Polonnaruwa is also known as New Town, and the other part of Polonnaruwa remains as the royal ancient city of the Kingdom of Polonnaruwa.
Batticaloa is a major city in the Eastern Province, Sri Lanka, and its former capital. It is the administrative capital of the Batticaloa District. The city is the seat of the Eastern University of Sri Lanka and is a major commercial centre. It is on the east coast, 111 kilometres (69 mi) south of Trincomalee, and is situated on an island. Pasikudah is a popular tourist destination situated 35 km (22 mi) northwest with beaches and flat year-round warm-water shallow-lagoons.
North Central Province is one of the nine provinces of Sri Lanka, the first level administrative division of the country. The provinces have existed since the 19th century but did not have any legal status until 1987 when the 13th Amendment to the Constitution of Sri Lanka established provincial councils. The province is the largest by size, and second least populated in the country. The province consists of the districts of Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa, both of which were important ancient Sri Lankan kingdoms. The climate is semi-arid, and the forests are dry evergreen forests.
Kurunegala is a district in North Western Province, Sri Lanka. The district is 4,812.7 km2 (1,858.2 sq mi). It consists of thirty divisional secretariats, 1,610 grama niladari divisions and 4,476 vllages. It has fourteen electoral divisions, two municipal councils, nineteen urban councils, fifteen members of parliament, 47 provincial council members, fifteen ministers and 337 local council members.
Puttalam is a district situated near to the west coast of Sri Lanka. It has an area of 3,072 km2 (1,186 sq mi). Along with the Kurunegala District, it formulates the North Western Province of Sri Lanka. The district capital is Puttalam, which borders the Kala Oya and Modaragam Aru in the north, Anuradhapura District and Kurunegala District in the east, Ma Oya in the south, and the Indian Ocean in the west. The primary form of agriculture in Sri Lanka is rice production. Rice is cultivated during Maha and Yala seasons. Tea is cultivated in the central highlands and is a major source of foreign exchange. The Kingdom of Polonnaruwa was the Sinhalese kingdom that expanded across the island of Sri Lanka and several overseas territories, from 1070 until 1232. The kingdom started expanding its overseas authority during the reign of Parakramabahu the Great.
Anuradhapura is a district in North Central Province, Sri Lanka. Its area is 7,179 km².
Polonnaruwa District is one of the 25 districts of Sri Lanka, the second level administrative division of the country. It is also one of the two districts of North Central Province and has an area of 3,293 km2.

Kala Wewa built by the King Datusena in 460 A.D, is a twin reservoir complex which has a capacity of 123 million cubic meters. This reservoir complex has facilitated with a stone made spillway and three main sluices. From the central major sluice, a 40 feet wide central conveys water to feed thousands of acres of paddy lands and ends at the historical capital Anuradhapura city tank Tissa Wewa meandering over 87 km (54 mi) at a slope of 6 inches per mile and is another wonder of primeval hydraulic engineering facility in ancient Ceylon.
The A4 Highway also known as the Colombo-Batticaloa highway, is the longest highway in Sri Lanka, at 430 kilometres (270 mi) in length. It connects Colombo with Batticaloa, through many important cities in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Uva and Eastern provinces.
Kantalai is a Divisional Secretariat of Trincomalee District, in the Eastern Province of Sri Lanka. To the north it is bounded by Kinniya and Thambalagamuwa divisional secretariats, and to the east by Seruvila divisional secretariat. In the south it shares a boundary with Polonnaruwa District, while in the west it is bounded by Anuradhapura District, both of which are in the North Central Province.

The Batticaloa line is a railway line in Sri Lanka. Branching off the Northern line at Maho Junction, the line heads east through North Central Province and south-easterly through Eastern Province before terminating at the eastern city of Batticaloa. The line is 212 kilometres (132 mi) long and has 31 stations. The line opened in 1928. There were no services on the Polonnaruwa-Batticaloa stretch of the line between 31 October 1996 and 12 April 2003 due to the civil war. The Udaya Devi service operates on the line.
The tank cascade system, or wewa-ellangava system, is an ancient Sri Lankan irrigation infrastructure. The system is a network of small tanks draining to large reservoirs that store rainwater and surface runoff for later use. Originating in the 1st millennium BCE, the system was designated a Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization in 2017. Centralized bureaucratic management of large-scale systems was implemented from the 3rd to the 13th centuries.

Polonnaruwa district has 07 divisional secretariats. The biggest division is Hingurakgoda. The division has 70878.33 hectares. When consider relative position of this division is bounded by Anuradhapura district from Northern, Alahera and Thamankaduwa from Southern, Medirigiriya and Lankapura from Eastern and Anuradhapura district from Western.
According to absolute situation, this division is situated between latitude 7°53´ to 8°22´ and Eastern longitude 80°45´ to 81°02´ the national grid system says that Hingurakgoda situated between Northern grid number 303–348 km and Eastern grid number 195–228 km.
There are 53 Grama Niladari divisions. According to population census data in 2012 population is about 63000. 2000mm.
When Consider land Use Patterns 45.6% are forests from Whole lands. Among this lands Girithale, Hurulu, Anamulandawa and Kaudulla national Forests are main 16.87%. Lands form rests are use For Agricultural Purposes.
Transport facility is special from infrastructural facilities. The part of Colombo - Trincomalee main road (A06 Grade) Running Through Habarana and Kanthale. Also the part of Maradankadawala - Batticolo main road (A11 Grade) running through Habarana and Jayanthipura.
The main Economic Crop is rice in Hingurakgoda Division. Minneriya Girithale and Kaudulla are main Irrigation systems which are supplying water for rice .As well as there are many Small irrigation systems in this division.
