Hingurakgoda Divisional Secretariat is a Divisional Secretariat of Polonnaruwa District, of North Central Province, Sri Lanka.
Poḷonnaruwa, also referred as Pulathisipura and Vijayarajapura in ancient times, is the main town of Polonnaruwa District in North Central Province, Sri Lanka. The modern town of Polonnaruwa is also known as New Town, and the other part of Polonnaruwa remains as the royal ancient city of the Kingdom of Polonnaruwa.
Batticaloa is a major city in the Eastern Province, Sri Lanka, and its former capital. It is the administrative capital of the Batticaloa District. The city is the seat of the Eastern University of Sri Lanka and is a major commercial centre. It is on the east coast, 111 kilometres (69 mi) south of Trincomalee, and is situated on an island. Pasikudah is a popular tourist destination situated 35 km (22 mi) northwest with beaches and flat year-round warm-water shallow-lagoons.
North Central Province is one of the nine provinces of Sri Lanka. The province has an area of 10,472 km2, making it the largest province by area, and a population of 1,266,663, making it the 3rd least populated province. The city of Anuradhapura is the capital of the province.

Puttalam is a district of Sri Lanka situated near the west coast of the country. The district has an area of 3,072 km2 (1,186 sq mi). The 1958 anti-Tamil pogrom and riots in Ceylon, also known as the 58 riots, refer to the first island-wide ethnic riots and pogrom to target the minority Tamils in the Dominion of Ceylon after it became an independent dominion from Britain in 1948. The riots lasted from 22 May until 29 May 1958 although sporadic disturbances happened even after the declaration of emergency on 27 May 1958. The estimates of the murders range, based on recovered bodies, from 158 to 1,500. Although most of the victims were Tamils, Sinhalese and their property were also affected by retaliatory attacks by Tamil mobs throughout the Batticaloa and Jaffna districts. As the first full-scale race riot in the country in over forty years, the events of 1958 shattered the trust the communities had in one another and led to further polarisation.
The Kingdom of Polonnaruwa was the Sinhalese kingdom that expanded across the island of Sri Lanka and several overseas territories, from 1070 until 1232. The kingdom started expanding its overseas authority during the reign of Parakramabahu the Great.

Minneriya is a small town in Sri Lanka that is famous for two things — the great Minneriya lake built by King Mahasen and Minneriya National Park which is a hot spot for safari lovers because of its abundance of elephants. Kala Wewa, built by the King Datusena in 460 CE, is a reservoir complex consisting of two reservoirs, Kala Wewa and Balalu Wewa. It has the capacity to store 123 million cubic meters of water. This reservoir complex has facilitated with a stone made spillway and three main sluices. From the central major sluice, a 40 feet wide central conveys water to feed thousands of acres of paddy lands and ends at the historical capital Anuradhapura city tank Tissa Wewa meandering over 87 km (54 mi) at a slope of 6 inches per mile and is another wonder of primeval hydraulic engineering facility in ancient Ceylon.
The Anuradhapura kingdom, named for its capital city, was the second established kingdom in ancient Sri Lanka related to the Sinhalese people. According to the Mahāvaṃsa, it was founded by King Pandukabhaya in 437 BC, whose authority extended throughout the country.
Minneriya National Park is a national park in North Central Province of Sri Lanka. The area was designated as a national park on 12 August 1997, having been originally declared as a wildlife sanctuary in 1938. The reason for declaring the area as protected is to protect the catchment of Minneriya tank and the wildlife of the surrounding area. The tank is of historical importance, having been built by King Mahasen in third century AD. The park is a dry season feeding ground for the elephant population dwelling in forests of Matale, Polonnaruwa, and Trincomalee districts. The park earned revenue of Rs. 10.7 million in the six months ending in August 2009. Along with Kaudulla and Girithale, Minneriya forms one of the 70 Important Bird Areas (IBAs) of Sri Lanka. The park is situated 182 kilometres (113 mi) from Colombo.
The A4 Highway also known as the Colombo-Ratnapura-Wellawaya-Batticaloa highway, is the longest highway in Sri Lanka, at 430 kilometres (270 mi) in length. It goes Colombo to Batticaloa, through many important cities in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Uva and Eastern provinces.
Kantalai is a Divisional Secretariat of Trincomalee District, in the Eastern Province of Sri Lanka. To the north it is bounded by Kinniya and Thambalagamuwa divisional secretariats, and to the east by Seruvila divisional secretariat. In the south it shares a boundary with Polonnaruwa District, while in the west it is bounded by Anuradhapura District, both of which are in the North Central Province.

Hingurakgoda is one of 7 Divisional Secretariats in Polonnaruwa District. Mr. Maithripala Sirisena, the former President in Sri Lanka is born in Polonnaruwa District.
Polonnaruwa district has 07 divisional secretariats. The biggest division is Hingurakgoda. The division has 70878.33 hectares. When consider relative position of this division is bounded by Anuradhapura district from Northern, Alahera and Thamankaduwa from Southern, Medirigiriya and Lankapura from Eastern and Anuradhapura district from Western.
According to absolute situation, this division is situated between latitude 7°53´ to 8°22´ and Eastern longitude 80°45´ to 81°02´ the national grid system says that Hingurakgoda situated between Northern grid number 303–348 km and Eastern grid number 195–228 km.
There are 53 Grama Niladari divisions. According to population census data in 2012 population is about 63000. 2000mm.
When Consider land Use Patterns 45.6% are forests from Whole lands. Among this lands Girithale, Hurulu, Anamulandawa and Kaudulla national Forests are main 16.87%. Lands form rests are use For Agricultural Purposes.
Transport facility is special from infrastructural facilities. The part of Colombo - Trincomalee main road (A06 Grade) Running Through Habarana and Kanthale. Also the part of Maradankadawala - Batticolo main road (A11 Grade) running through Habarana and Jayanthipura.
The main Economic Crop is rice in Hingurakgoda Division. Minneriya Girithale and Kaudulla are main Irrigation systems which are supplying water for rice .As well as there are many Small irrigation systems in this division.
In addition there are many Historical values in Hingurakgoda division.
