Bernhard Erasmus von Deroy from the Electorate of the Palatinate became a noted general officer in the army of Bavaria. His military career began shortly after the start of the Seven Years' War. During the French Revolutionary Wars he first served on the side of the Coalition against the French revolutionaries, then fought as an ally of the First French Empire during the Napoleonic Wars. Deroy and his colleague, Karl Philipp von Wrede, were dominant personalities in the Bavarian military during the era of Napoleon Bonaparte.

The Hofstatt is a shopping mall that opened in 2013 in Munich's old town. The core of the building is the former site of the Süddeutscher Verlag, whose historical edifices are part of the design by architect Max Littmann on the Sendlinger Straße and the brick printing press building was also incorporated into the project.
Alte Brücke is a bridge in Frankfurt, Hesse, Germany. It is the oldest bridge over the lower course of the river Main, and until 1886 was the only stone bridge crossing the river. From the Middle Ages until the year 1914, it connected the "Fahrgasse" in Frankfurt Altstadt with the "Brückenstraße" in Sachsenhausen. Since its first mention in official documents in 1222, the development of Frankfurt has been strongly influenced by the bridge. Over the centuries, Alte Brücke has been destroyed and reconstructed at least 18 times. With its 13 brick-built circular arches, the Sachsenhausen Bridge was one of the most prominent buildings of the city, but failing to meet the increasing demands of the modern road and ship traffic, it was demolished in 1914.
Hostert is a residential area in the municipality of Schwalmtal, in the German county of Viersen. In 1970, it merged with Waldniel, 2.5 km further west, to form the municipality of Schwalmtal. It lies on the state road (Landstraße) from Schwalmtal to Gladbach. To the south it borders on the A 52 motorway. Linguistically Hostert means Hofstatt ("farmstead"). The settlement includes the complex of St. Josefsheim, built in 1909. After being built as a Franciscan priory, the monks were forced out by the Nazi regime and it was used as part of their child euthanasia programme. After the war it became a British military boarding school, Kent School, Hostert. Since that closed in 1993, the site has stood empty.
