Hokuto Konishi (born July 11, 1984), also known as Hok or Hawk or Falcon, is a Japanese breakdancer, choreographer, actor, and television personality. Konishi member of the American hip-hop dance crew Quest Crew and was a finalist on the third season of the American reality television show So You Think You Can Dance .

His Season 3 performance on So You Think You Can Dance – Hummingbird and Flower choreographed by Wade Robson won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Choreography in 2008. [1] He was a student in graphic design at Santa Monica College. [2] Hok also was seen in Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel as a hip-hop dancer participating in a music competition. He is the choreographer of LMFAO's "Party Rock Anthem" and "Champagne Showers" music videos.

Konishi is one of the judges on the CBS talent competition The World's Best representing the country of Japan. [3]

So You Think You Can Dance

Konishi is a breakdancer and has also appeared on So You Think You Can Dance in seasons one, two, and three. In season two Konishi nearly made it to the final twenty, but with only a student visa, he was unable to be legally employed in the United States, which resulted in his dismissal from the program. Subsequently, he obtained a work permit and became eligible to participate in the competition in Season Three. He was voted off the show by the judges on July 19, 2007.

Konishi is known for his breakdancing moves and was formerly a member of the dance troupe SickStep. He appeared with SickStep in the season two auditions and was the final member to make it through to the Vegas stage. [4] As of 2007, he is a member of a breaking crew called Quest Crew, which competes and performs in various venues in California. [5] Konishi is also friends with So You Think You Can Dance season one contestant Ryan Conferido; [4] they are both members of Quest. [5]

Personal life

Born in Tokyo, Konishi is of Japanese descent, but grew up in Oxford, England. [6] He is a graduate in graphic design at Santa Monica College. [2]

Hok Konishi started dancing at age 15. He attended a dance studio for 2 years learning how to Hip Hop and Lock.[ citation needed ] His dance style refers mainly to hip hop and b-boying. Hokuto also likes to cook, draw, paint, design, and play the violin. He is so far the only one in his family who dances professionally. He has performed in the musical theatres Vibe, All VC, Collaboration, and the Sai-Gai Carnival. [ citation needed ]

This is the crew's second time being declared champion of MTV's hit show.

Poreotics, also known as Poreotix, is an American all-male dance crew from Westminster, California. The crew was formed in 2007 by Matthew "Dumbo" Nguyen and specializes in popping, choreography and robotics, hence the name Po-reo-tics. They have performed in numerous hip hop dance competitions, most notably coming in 1st place in the USA division of the 2009 and 2010 Hip-Hop Internationals and in other dance programs and competitions including the Vibe 15, FUSION X, Body Rock, and World Of Dance. Desi Hoppers is a hip-hop dance crew from Mumbai, India. Desi Hoppers were formed in 2015, with originally seven members. In their debut year, Desi Hoppers won the World of Dance Championships in Los Angeles. The crew created history by being the first Indian dance team representing the country in World of Dance (WOD) and later emerging as winners. The journey of their formation and subsequent win was filmed as part of a finite television dance series called "Bindass Naach" on bindass channel. The crew was invited to give special performances on America's Got Talent and Day Day Up. They are the only Indian crew to showcase an exhibition performance in World of Dance 2017.

The sixteenth season of So You Think You Can Dance (SYTYCD), an American dance competition reality show on FOX, returned on June 3, 2019. The series has won numerous awards since its debut in 2005, including eleven Emmy Awards for Outstanding Choreography, the most for any show. This panel of judges again features series creator Nigel Lythgoe, as well as the return of ballroom dance champion and expert Mary Murphy. New to the panel are choreographer Laurieann Gibson and B-boy dancer/choreographer Dominic "D-Trix" Sandoval, who serve as the third and fourth judges during auditions and live shows.
