Hollis Heath is an American playwright, actress, and teaching artist. She received the AUDELCO award in 2012 for a play she co-wrote with Jaylene Clark Owens and Janelle Heatley Hinnant, Renaissance in the Belly of a Killer Whale. [1]

AUDELCO, the Audience Development Committee, Inc., was established in 1973 by Vivian Robinson to honor excellence in African American theatre in New York City.

Heath studied at The City College of New York, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in English with concentrations in theater and creative writing. [2] She subsequently graduated with a master's degree in education in June 2016. The commencement address was delivered by Michelle Obama and Heath was one of the few students (out of 3800) to be commended for "writing an award-winning play as well as speaking at the White House about empowering women". [3]

Heath is a native of Harlem and is an alumna of the drama program at Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School. [4] In 2009, she collaborated with political artist and activist Sophia Dawson to curate her first show, "Wet Paint." In 2013, Hollis curated "Danger to the Darkness" with Mike McManus and Aaron Valentin, an art show to benefit A21, an organization that works to fight human trafficking around the globe. [2] She has created summer drama workshops for New York City youth, [4] and received the Harlem YMCA Community Impact Award for “dedication to the enrichment of the Harlem Community.” [5]

Susan Sojourna Collier is an American television writer and playwright. With a background in poetry & playwriting, Sojourna Collier received a Daytime Emmy nomination for her writing on ABC Daytime's All My Children. Collier also wrote for One Life to Live. She collaborated with comedian/actor Tommy Ford to produce a series of sitcoms and films distributed by Lionsgate/Grindstone. The first feature film Conflict of Interest was aired on Aspire TV Network [owned by Magic Johnson] – garnering the largest ratings for the network. She has worked with Bill Perkins for over 18 years. Bill Perkins is New York State Senator for the 30th District and Education Committee. She says "My work related to everything to this community. They exposed a major housing scheme in illegal "flipping" of old brownstones in Harlem and in Brooklyn. It was one of the biggest profiteer HUB rehab-loan fraud schemes which devastated the housing market in Harlem and Brooklyn.
