Busia is a county in the former Western Province of Kenya. It is located directly east of the border town of Busia, Uganda, and borders Lake Victoria to the southwest, Siaya County to the southeast, and Bungoma County and Kakamega County to the east. The county is composed of six sub-counties, and had a population of 893,681 as of the most recent census in 2019.

Gerald Otieno Kajwang was a Kenyan politician. He belonged to the Orange Democratic Movement and was elected to represent the Mbita Constituency in the National Assembly of Kenya in the December 2007 parliamentary election. In the bitterly contested 2013 elections, Otieno Kajwang was elected to represent Homa Bay County in the Senate of Kenya. Upon his death, his brother, Moses Otieno Kajwang won the election to succeed him in Parliament, representing Homa Bay.

Gladys Atieno Nyasuna Wanga is a Kenyan politician who is the current Governor of Homa Bay County. She is the first female Governor from the Western Region of the Country and one of the seven female governors elected during the 2022 Kenyan General Election. She previously served as the County Woman Representative of Homa Bay County from 2013 to 2022.
Joyce Atieno Osogo Bensuda is a Kenyan politician from the Orange Democratic Movement. She was elected to the National Assembly for Homa Bay Town in the 2022 general election.
