Hoover Hynniewta is an Indian politician. He was elected to the Lok Sabha,the lower house of the Indian Parliament,from Autonomous District constituency in Assam as an Independent. [1] [2] [3]
Purno Agitok Sangma was an Indian politician who served as the Chief Minister of Meghalaya from 1988 to 1990 and Speaker of the Lok Sabha from 1996 to 1998. He was the candidate for the 2012 Indian presidential election,supported by BJP and AIADMK,however he lost to Congress politician Shri Pranab Mukherjee. He was awarded the Padma Vibhushan,India's second highest civilian award,posthumously in 2017 in the field of Public Affairs and was the first recipient of Padma Vibhushan from Meghalaya.
Mizoram is a state in Northeast India,with Aizawl as its seat of government and capital city. The name of the state is derived from "Mizo",the self-described name of the native inhabitants,and "Ram",which in the Mizo language means "land." Thus "Mizo-ram" means "land of the Mizos". Within India's northeast region,it is the southernmost landlocked state,sharing borders with three of the Seven Sister States,namely Tripura,Assam and Manipur. The state also shares a 722-kilometre (449 mi) border with the neighbouring countries of Bangladesh and Myanmar.

Mizo Union was the first political party in Mizoram,northeast India. It was founded on 6 April 1946 at Aizawl as the Mizo Common People's Union. At the time of independence of India from the british rule in india in 1947,the party was the only political force in the Lushai Hills. It won the first Mizoram District Council general election under the new Indian Union in 1951,and consecutively in 1957,1962 and 1966.
The Mizo National Front is a regional political party in Mizoram,India. MNF emerged from the Mizo National Famine Front,which was formed by Pu Laldenga to protest against the inaction of the Indian central government towards the famine situation in the Mizo areas of the Assam state in 1959. It staged a major uprising in 1966,followed by years of underground activities. In 1986,it signed the Mizoram Accord with the Government of India,renouncing secession and violence. The MNF then began contesting elections and has formed state government in Mizoram three times. It is currently the state's ruling party,with its president,Zoramthanga,as the Chief Minister of Mizoram.

Hmar language,also known by its endonym Khawsak Ṭawng,belongs to the Kukish branch of the Sino-Tibetan family of languages. The speakers of the language are also known as Hmar. According to the official 2011 Census of India,there are 29,268 Hmar/Khawsak speakers in Assam,48,375 in Manipur,1,700 in Meghalaya,18,587 in Mizoram although Majority of the Hmars in Mizoram speak Duhlian (Mizo).

He was a recipient of Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM) and Padma Shri for his humanitarian works during his military service,and Mizo Award for his lifetime achievements.
Bimala Prasad Chaliha was a Leader of Indian National Congress and a Freedom Fighter who was imprisoned at Jorhat Jail in 1942 for active participation in Mahatma Gandhi's Quit India Movement against the British Government. He was elected to the post of Chief Minister of Assam for Three Consecutive Terms,once from Badarpur Constituency and twice from Sonari Constituency. He was in office from 28 December 1957 to 6 November 1970. He was awarded Padma Vibhushan in 1971.
The National People's Party is a national-level political party in India,though its influence is mostly concentrated in the state of Meghalaya. The party was founded by P. A. Sangma after his expulsion from the NCP in July 2012. It was accorded national party status on 7 June 2019. It is the first political party from Northeastern India to have attained this status.
The Zo people are an ethnic group which inhabit areas of India,Myanmar and the Chittagong hill tracts of Bangladesh. The word Zohnatlâk/Zo is used to describe an ethnic group,which is also known as the Chin,the Mizo,the Kuki,or a number of other names based on geographic distribution,that speaks the Kuki-Chin languages. They are from same origin which is known as Sinlung. They spread throughout the northeastern states of India,northwestern Myanmar and the Chittagong Hill Tracts of Bangladesh. In northeastern India,they are present in Tripura,Nagaland,Mizoram,Manipur,Meghalaya and Assam.

Williamson Ampang Sangma,a Garo leader,former Chief Minister of Meghalaya,twenty-first state of India on 21 January 1972. He was also the first ever Governor of Mizoram among the Garos in 1989.

The North-East Democratic Alliance or NEDA is a political coalition that was formed on May 24,2016,by Bharatiya Janata Party. The motive of the new political front was to protect the interest of the people of the region as well as uniting non-Congress parties in Northeast India. Himanta Biswa Sarma was appointed as the convenor of the front.
The Meghalaya Legislative Assembly election was held on 27 February 2018 to elect 59 of 60 members to the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly,with the results declared on 3 March. The scheduled election in Williamnagar constituency was delayed to an undetermined date following the death of Nationalist Congress Party candidate Jonathone Sangma in an IED blast in East Garo Hills district on 18 February 2018. The incumbent Indian National Congress government,led by Chief Minister Mukul Sangma,attempted to win re-election for the third consecutive time.
The hill tribes of Northeast India are hill people,mostly classified as Scheduled Tribes (STs),who live in the Northeast India region. This region has the largest proportion of scheduled tribes in the country.
Border disputes of Northeast India mainly include inter-state conflict between Assam–Mizoram,Assam–Arunachal Pradesh,Assam–Nagaland and Assam–Meghalaya. The disputes,including clashes between rival police forces,have resulted in the loss of life,livelihood and property. The border disputes in some cases are part of the larger national (separatist),sub-regional and ethnic conflicts,as well as criminal enterprise fuelled. This internal land conflict in the districts of the northeast are part of the 322 districts affected by ongoing land conflicts out of a total of 703 districts in India.
