The Horecava 2010 is the 52nd edition of the Horecava. It was opened by a ceremony by Gerda Verburg on January 11 and ran until January 14, 2010. Its theme was sustainability. [2] An important moment was the launch of the campaign Sustainable Fish that aims at improving the position of sustainable fish in restaurants. The goal of the campaign is that by the end of 2010 at least 250 restaurants will hold a Marine Stewardship Council certification. [3]

The 2010 Innovation Award was won by the leaftender, a machine for brewing fresh tea from whole tea leaves. [4]

The Filet-O-Fish is a fish sandwich sold by the international fast food restaurant chain McDonald's. It was created in 1962 by Lou Groen, a McDonald's franchise owner in Cincinnati, Ohio, in response to falling hamburger sales on Fridays resulting from the Western Christian practice of abstaining from meat on Fridays, which plays an important role in Roman Catholicism, Methodism and Anglicanism. While the fish composition of the sandwich has changed through the years to satisfy taste and address supply shortcomings, the framework of its ingredients have remained constant; a fried breaded fish fillet, a steamed bun, tartar sauce and pasteurized American cheese.

The NK Horeca, or Dutch National Championship Hospitality, is an annual championship in different branches of hospitality. It currently awards the Golden Chef's Hat for the chef who presents the best four course meal, three awards for the best sandwich: the best sandwich in hospitality, the best sandwich in catering, and a best sandwich for personnel with an intellectual disability, and a flair bartending award. It has been held in its current form at the Horecava since 2007.

Berkeley Student Food Collective

The Berkeley Student Food Collective (BSFC) is a collectively operated non-profit grocery market founded by students of the University of California, Berkeley near the Berkeley campus. The market aims to expand student access to as many organic, locally sourced, fair trade and whole foods as possible. It also aims to educate the community about the food system and its environmental, social and political impacts. It opened its doors in 2010, after having won a $91,000 grant from UC Berkeley's The Green Initiative Fund (TGIF). The collective serves a selection of produce, refrigerated and packaged goods, as well as a weekly subscription-style produce box that contains local, seasonal produce. The storefront is located across the street from the university, on Bancroft Way.

't Schulten Hues is a restaurant in Zutphen, Netherlands. It is a fine dining restaurant that was awarded one Michelin star for the period 2005-present.

Bite-Back

Bite-Back is a UK-based charity dedicated to shark and marine conservation which believes that over-fishing, coupled with the over-consumption of wild fish, are the two biggest threats facing the marine world. Through its work it seeks to educate people about the issues facing the only truly wild items stocked by supermarkets and to empower its supporters to help change the way fish is consumed. The charity's goal is to encourage retailers to put conservation before commerce.
