Horfield Leisure Centre is a leisure centre in Horfield, Bristol, UK. It is one of the three most used leisure facilities in the Bristol City Council area, the other two being Hengrove Park Leisure Centre and Easton Leisure Centre. [1]

History

Work began to expand the facility in 2003. As part of the expansion, a swimming pool, fitness suite, creche, and cafe were added. [2] The facility reopened on 14 November 2005 with an official opening by Darren Campbell on 18 November. [3]

In July 2016, the centre reopened following a refurbishment. [4] [5] In December 2016, artificial turf pitches were opened at the site. [6]

Poplar Baths on the East India Dock Road in Poplar, London is a former public bath house and Grade II listed building that was constructed in 1933 and closed to the public in 1988. The Baths are adjacent to All Saints DLR station. A campaign to restore the baths won the support of Tower Hamlets Council in 2010 and the construction company Guildmore was appointed to complete the works to create a new leisure centre incorporating a swimming pool, gymnasium and affordable housing on adjacent land. The site reopened in July 2016.

The Newport Centre is a leisure centre in Newport, South Wales. The Newport Centre is located in Newport city centre on the west bank of the River Usk adjacent to the Kingsway Shopping Centre. The centre hosted the Welsh Open snooker tournament from 1992 until 1998, and also from 2005 until 2014, as well as international business conferences and exhibitions. Most leisure centres in Cardiff, capital of Wales, are owned by Cardiff Council. Since 2016, the running of eight formerly Council-run leisure centres has been outsourced to Greenwich Leisure Limited, operating under their 'Better' branding. Channel View Leisure Centre continues to be managed by Cardiff Council, whilst the Cardiff International Pool in Cardiff Bay is run separately by another private company.
