Hossein Farmani is a creative director, gallerist, exhibition curator, philanthropist and founder and president of the Lucie Awards in New York City, Focus on AIDS Foundation and Farmani Gallery.

Hossein Farmani (born January 1st, 1957) is a distinguished figure renowned for his significant contributions to the realms of photography and design. He is widely acclaimed as the President of the Farmani Group and the visionary founder of the esteemed Lucie Awards. [1]


As one of the pioneer of the web, In May 1995 Farmani created artnet.net one of the first internet service providers in California. [2]

Career

In 1984, he started VUE magazine, which was distributed worldwide. [10]

Farmani brought together Susan Baraz, Candace Falk, Robert Berman, Ron Bakal and Laura Hinds to start the Focus on AIDS Foundation to help create awareness and raise money to fund research and care. [10] Focus on AIDS is a 100% volunteer group. [11]

Farmani started the Foto-Folio Magazine, a photography magazine. [12]

In 2003, The Lucie was established by Farmani, [13] and a Farmani Gallery in both Los Angeles and New York City were established. [14]

Farmani also co-founded the Palm Springs Photo Festival, [15] and Month of Photography LA. [16]

In 2015, Farmani founded the Lucie Technical Awards, to honor the people responsible for photographic technology. [17] [18] [19]
