Hotel Lights is an American indie rock band led by singer-songwriter Darren Jessee, the drummer for Ben Folds Five. [1] [2]
The band self-released the album Hotel Lights in 2004. [3] It featured Archers of Loaf drummer Mark Price and Sparklehorse touring guitarist Alan Weatherhead. It was officially released by Bar/None Records in March 2006. [4] In support of the first album, Hotel Lights toured with Bishop Allen, Tift Merritt, and Nada Surf.
Firecracker People released in August 2008, [5] was recorded at Butch Vig's Smart Studios in Madison, Wisconsin, and features longtime collaborator and guitarist Alan Weatherhead with rhythm section Jay Brown and Zeke Hutchins. The fifth track, "Amelia Bright", was originally performed by Ben Folds Five on their final tour before breaking up in 2000. [5]
In 2009 The band joined Ben Folds on tour in the northeast and supported shows for Mark Eitzel and Joel Plaskett in Brooklyn, NY.
The album, Girl Graffiti, was released August 16, 2011.
Get Your Hand In My Hand, Hotel Lights' fourth full-length album, was released on March 4, 2016. [6] It included the song Sky High, a song Jessee wrote that was also recorded by Ben Folds Five for their 2012 album Sound Of The Life Of The Mind.

Whatever and Ever Amen is the second album by Ben Folds Five, released in 1997. Three singles were released from the album, including the lead single, "Battle of Who Could Care Less", which received significant airplay on alternative radio and on MTV, and peaked at #26 on the UK Singles Chart and #22 on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart, and the band's biggest hit, "Brick", which was a top-40 song in numerous countries.

The Unauthorized Biography of Reinhold Messner is the third studio album by Ben Folds Five, released April 27, 1999. It represented a departure for the band from their usual pop-rock sound to material influenced by classical and chamber music, with darker, introspective lyrics on subjects such as regret, death, and loss of innocence. It was the final full-length album from the trio until the release of The Sound of the Life of the Mind in 2012. It was produced by Caleb Southern.
Majosha was an American alternative rock band formed around early 1988 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. It featured Ben Folds on bass and keyboards, Millard Powers on guitar, Evan Olson on guitar, and Eddie Walker on drums. They released a self-produced EP, Party Night: Five Songs About Jesus in 1988, which contained four tracks, none of which were about Jesus. After gaining popularity, they released their first and only studio album, Shut Up and Listen to Majosha in 1989. The band disbanded in early 1990 and the members went on to pursue other projects.

On June 9, 1997 Ben Folds Five was one of the first guests to appear on a new series called Sessions at West 54th. Because of the 1/2 hour time constraint of the show, only a handful of the recorded tracks made it to air. The DVD contains the entire performance which, for the most part, includes tracks from their just released album, Whatever and Ever Amen.
