Hubert Sitko (born 26 December 1939) is a Polish former ice hockey player. He played for Start Katowice and GKS Katowice during his career. With GKS Katowice Sitko won the Polish hockey league championship four times. He also played for the Polish national team at four World Championships as well as the 1964 Winter Olympics. [1]

The Polska Hokej Liga (PHL) is the premier ice hockey league in Poland. Previously, it was known as the I Liga or Ekstraklasa from 1926 to 1999, and the Polska Liga Hokejowa from 1999 to 2013. In 2013, it was reorganized as a limited liability company and renamed the Polska Hokej Liga. It follows a system of relegation to and promotion to/from the Polish 1. Liga.

The 2016–17 Polska Hokej Liga season was the 82nd season of the Polska Hokej Liga, the top level of ice hockey in Poland. Eleven teams participated in the league. Two teams returned to the league: GKS Katowice returned after a year of inactivity, and Stoczniowiec Gdańsk was promoted from the Polish 1. Liga. Due to financial constraints, KH Zagłębie Sosnowiec, Naprzód Janów, and STS Sanok did not return to the league. Sosnowiec and Janów dropped down to the Polish 1. Liga, while Sanok suspended operations altogether.

Andrzej Fonfara, was a Polish ice hockey player. He mainly played for GKS Katowice during his career, as well as the Polish national team at several world championships as well as the 1964 Winter Olympics. He helped Katowice win the Polish league title five times, and later coached the team as well.

Mariusz Waldemar Kieca is a Polish former ice hockey player. During his career he played for KTH Krynica, GKS Tychy, SMS Warszawa, GKS Katowice, and Cracovia Kraków. He also played for the Polish national team at the 1992 Winter Olympics and several World Championships.

Krzysztof Władysław Podsiadło is a Polish former ice hockey player and coach. He played for Zagłębie Sosnowiec, Antjärns IK, GKS Tychy, Cracovia, GKS Katowice, and SMS Warszawa during his career. He also played for the Polish national team at the 1988 Winter Olympics and five World Championships. After his playing career he turned to coaching.

Wiesław Wawrzyniec Tokarz is a Polish former ice hockey player. He played for Podhale Nowy Targ, GKS Katowice, and Zagłębie Sosnowiec during his career. Tokarz won the Polish league championship six times, twice with Podhale in 1971 and 1972, and with Zagłębie from 1980 until 1983. He also played for the Polish national team at the 1972 Winter Olympics and multiple World Championships. His brother, Leszek, also played hockey, and was a teammate at the 1972 Winter Olympics. In 2005 he was awarded the Gold Cross of Merit for his services to sport.

Szczepaniec won the Polish league championship with Podhale in both 1971 and 1972. He also played for the Polish national team at the 1972 Winter Olympics and the 1973 and 1976 World Championships.

Marek Stebnicki is a Polish former ice hockey player. He played for Polonia Bytom, Krefeld Pinguine, Revierlöwen Oberhausen, GKS Katowice, and Unia Oświęcim during his career. He won the Polish league championship in eight times during his career, six with Polonia and two with Unia. Stebnicki also played for the Polish national team at the 1988 Winter Olympics and several World Championships.

Michał Garbocz is a Polish former professional ice hockey forward.
