Hugh Evans OBE (born c. 1961) [1] is a farmer and county councillor in Denbighshire, Wales, who was leader of Denbighshire County Council between 2007 and 2022.
Evans is a dairy farmer from Llanelidan, Denbighshire. He was first elected to Denbighshire County Council as an Independent councillor for the ward of Llanfair Dyffryn Clwyd/Gwyddelwern in 2004. [1] He became leader of the council in November 2007 after the previous leader, Rhiannon Hughes, had resigned in October following damning reports into the county's education services. [1] Evans was the only person nominated and was backed by all five political groups on the council. He immediately took on the role of the council's education leader himself and announced he'd be reducing the size of the council's cabinet. [2]
He was re-elected as leader following the May 2008 local elections. A Conservative councillor stood against him. [3]
Evans was awarded an OBE in the 2012 New Years Honours, for services to local government. [4]
Evans was re-elected as leader following the May 2017 elections, taking on the Economy, Planning and Regulation portfolio. [5]

Margaret Ann Jones is a Welsh Labour Co-operative politician. Born in Rhyl, Denbighshire, Jones was the Member of the Senedd (MS) for Vale of Clwyd from 1999 until she retired in 2021. From 11 May 2016 until her retirement, she was the Deputy Presiding Officer for the Senedd.

Meral Hussein Ece, Baroness Hussein-Ece, is a British Liberal Democrat member of the House of Lords. She is the first woman of Turkish Cypriot origin to be a member of either house of Parliament after she was appointed a Liberal Democrat working peer on 28 May 2010. She was the Liberal Democrat Spokeswoman for Equalities from 2015 until 2016, under leader Tim Farron.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council is the local authority of the East Riding of Yorkshire. It is a unitary authority, having the powers of a non-metropolitan county and district council combined. It provides a full range of local government services including Council Tax billing, libraries, social services, processing planning applications, waste collection and disposal, and it is a local education authority.
The 2017 Welsh local elections were held on 4 May 2017 to elect members of all 22 local authorities in Wales. This included the Isle of Anglesey, which was previously up for election in 2013 due to having its elections delayed for a year. Community council elections also took place on the same day. These local elections were held as part of the 2017 local elections in the United Kingdom. Apart from Anglesey, the last elections were held in 2012. Normally these elections take place every four years, but the 2017 elections were postponed for a year in order to avoid clashing with the 2016 Welsh Assembly election, which itself had been postponed by a year to avoid clashing with the 2015 general election.

He has been councillor for Ham ward since 1988 and has led the Labour group on Plymouth City Council since 1998. He served as leader of the council from 1998 to 2000, from 2003 to 2007, from 2012 to 2016, and 2018 to 2021.

Deborah Ann Wilcox, Baroness Wilcox of Newport is a Welsh Labour councillor, and former teacher, who had served from May 2016 until September 2019 as Leader of Newport City Council. She is also head of the Welsh Local Government Association, a role she has held since 2017.
