Humberto Guillermo Cuestas was a politician from El Salvador and former Vice President of El Salvador from 1967 to 1972. [1]
Cuestas was born on 3 February 1921 in Santa Ana. [2] He was a lawyer by profession. [3] He was Minister of Justice and private secretary during the presidency of colonel Julio Adalberto Rivera Carballo (1963-1967). [1]
Cuestas was elected as Vice President of El Salvador in the 1967 elections,and served in the presidency of general Fidel Sánchez Hernández. He also held portfolios of Minister of Finance from 1967 to 1968, [4] and also Minister of Interior and minister in the presidential office. [1]
Later Cuestas was a magistrate in the Supreme Court of Justice of El Salvador. [1] He died in April 2005. [1]
Carlos Humberto Romero Mena was a Salvadoran military general and politician who served as president of El Salvador from 1 July 1977 until his overthrow on 15 October 1979. Romero was the final president of the country's military dictatorship which began in 1931.
General Juan JoséGuzmán was the first President of El Salvador from 14 April 1842 to 1 February 1844. He died on 19 October 1847 aged 50.

Rafael Antonio Gutiérrez was the president of El Salvador from 10 June 1894 to 13 November 1898. Doctor Manuel Enrique Araujo was a Salvadoran politician and physician who served as president of El Salvador from 1 March 1911 until his death on 9 February 1913 to his injuries sustained in an assassination attempt five days prior. Araujo is the only Salvadoran president to have been assassinated while in office.
Osmín Aguirre y Salinas was a Salvadoran military officer and politician who served as the provisional president of El Salvador from 21 October 1944 until 1 March 1945. A Colonel in the Salvadoran Army,Aguirre y Salinas led two successful coups against the Salvadoran government:once in 1931 and once more in 1944. He left office in 1945,with the assurance that his successor in the next election would be Salvador Castaneda Castro. Aguirre y Salinas was later assassinated by left-wing guerrillas near his home in San Salvador at the age of 87.
Salvador Silvestre del Rosario Jovellanos Guanes was a Paraguayan politician. He served as Vice President in 1871,and President from December 18,1871 –November 25,1874. His main concern as president was Paraguay's slow recovery from Paraguay's defeat in Paraguayan War with Brazil,Argentina and Uruguay. He died in Buenos Aires on February 11,1881.
