The Ospreys, formerly the Neath–Swansea Ospreys is one of the four professional rugby union teams from Wales. They compete in the United Rugby Championship and the European Rugby Champions Cup. The team formed as a result of Neath RFC and Swansea RFC combining to create a new merged entity, as part of the new regional structure of Welsh rugby, that began in 2003. They are also affiliated with a number of local semi-professional and amateur clubs, including Welsh Premier Division sides Aberavon RFC, Bridgend Ravens, and original founding clubs Neath and Swansea. The regional area represented by the team has widely become known for rugby purposes as 'Ospreylia'.
Ulster Rugby is one of the four professional provincial rugby union teams from the island of Ireland. They compete in the Irish regional pool of the United Rugby Championship and in the European Rugby Champions Cup, each of which they have won once. Ulster were the first Irish team and the first team outside England and France to win the European Cup in 1999.
Dwayne John Peel is a Welsh rugby union coach and former player. He was the most capped scrum-half for the Wales national rugby union team with 76 caps, until his record was surpassed by Mike Phillips on 16 March 2013.
Sale Sharks is a professional rugby union club from Greater Manchester, England. They play in Premiership Rugby, and have been in England's top division of rugby union continuously since 1995. Originally founded in 1861 as Sale Football Club, they are one of the oldest existing football clubs. They adopted the nickname Sharks in 1999.
Jonny Hill is an English professional rugby union player who plays at lock for Premiership club Sale Sharks. Hill is the nephew of former Rugby league international Paul Loughlin.
Dominic Edward Barrow is an English rugby union lock who plays for Sale Sharks. Barrow previously played for Yorkshire Carnegie in the RFU Championship, Newcastle Falcons and Leicester Tigers in Premiership Rugby and La Rochelle in France's Top 14. He joined Sale Sharks in February 2022, having initially retired from the game in 2020.
George David Nott is a professional rugby union player who plays as a lock or flanker for Dragons RFC and previously for London Irish. Born in Bodelwyddan, Wales, Nott was raised in Llandudno and Mold, and has represented England at Under-20 level.

The 2021–22 season was the 18th in the history of the Scarlets, a Welsh regional rugby union side based in Llanelli, Carmarthenshire. In this season, they competed in the inaugural United Rugby Championship and the Champions Cup. It was Dwayne Peel's first season as head coach of the region, following the departure of his predecessor Glenn Delaney.
