Hvidovre Badminton Club (HBC), also known as Hvidovre BK (Hvidovre Badmintonklub), is a badminton club in Hvidovre in the western suburbs of Copenhagen, Denmark. It has won the Danish Badminton League three times and Europe Cup twice.

History

The Hvidovre Badmintonklub was founded as Holmegårdens Badminton Club on 22 April 1948. It was then part of Holmegårdens Gymnastikforening and used the gymnastics hall at Holmegårdskolen in the northern part of Hvidovre. The number of members grew steadily and the club changed its name to Hvidovre Badmintonklub (Hvidovre BK) on 4 March 1960. The club won the Danish Badminton League for the first time in 1980. [1]

Mogens Krogh is a Danish former professional football player who was most recently manager of Næstved BK. In his playing career, Krogh was the first choice goalkeeper of Ikast fS between 1981 and 1991 and of Brøndby from 1991 to his retirement in December 2002, playing 464 first team matches for the latter. Krogh also played 10 matches for the Denmark national football team. He has won both the UEFA European Championship and the FIFA Confederations Cup.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Hvidovre Stadium</span>

Hvidovre Stadium is an athletics- and association football stadium located in Hvidovre, south west of Copenhagen, Denmark, that is owned and operated by Hvidovre Municipality. It is currently used mostly for association football matches and is the home stadium of Hvidovre IF, Hvidovre AM (athletics) and previously Hvidovre Stars. The exhibition field has a lighting installation with a light intensity of 1000 lux, undersoil heating and have been approved for televised matches in the Danish Superliga. The stadium is part of a sports complex, that covers an area of 72,000 m² and also consists of four association football fields, outdoor athletic facilities, a hall for indoor athletics, a hall with two indoor tennis courts, five outdoor tennis courts, a fitness center, a cafeteria including rooms for club members and meetings. Since 1 July 2019, the stadium's main exhibition field has been referred to as Pro Ventilation Arena for sponsorship reasons after having previously been known under the names Office Center Arena (2010–2012) and Kæmpernes Arena (2012–2019). One senior women's national team friendly match have been staged at the arena in 1979, while at least 14 Under-21, Under-19, Under-18, Under-17, Under-16 men's national team matches have been held there between 1964 and 2011.

Sport in Denmark is diverse. The national sport is football with the most notable results being qualifying for the European Championships six times in a row (1984–2004) and winning the Championship in 1992. Other significant achievements include winning the Confederations Cup in 1995 and reaching the quarter final of the 1998 World Cup. Other popular sports include handball, esports, cycling, sailing sports, badminton, ice hockey, swimming, and recently also golf. A few youths also play basketball.

Jesper Alsing Larsen is a badminton player from Denmark who affiliated with Hvidovre BK. He won the men's doubles gold medal along with partner Jens Eriksen at the 2000 European Championships. Larsen and Eriksen competed at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia, and finished in the quarter-finals stage.

Allan Hjortdal Kuhn, known simply as Allan Kuhn, is a Danish association football coach and former player. He most recently was the manager of Danish Superliga club Hobro IK. Before that he was head coach of Swedish club Malmö FF in 2016, where he won the domestic league during his sole season. He was the head coach of FC Midtjylland from 2009 to 2011. He is also a former assistant coach and caretaker head coach of Aalborg BK, and was the assistant of head coach Erik Hamrén in the 2008 Superliga-winning season, as well as assistant of Kent Nielsen in the 2014 Superliga-winning season.

Lillerød BK is a badminton club based in Lillerød in the northern part of the Greater Copenhagen area. The club was founded on 7 November 1940. It has won the Danish Badminton League four times and Europe League three times.

Greve Strands Badmintonklub is a badminton club in Greve Strand outside Copenhagen, Denmark. It has won the Danish Badminton League four times and Europe Cup once.

Mikkel Elbjørn Larsen is a Danish badminton player. Larsen started playing badminton at aged 4 at Kastrup-Magleby Badminton Klub (KMB). In 2006–2007 season, he won the mixed doubles title at the Danish National U-19 Championships, and in 2007–2008 season, he retain the title and also won the boys' doubles title. In 2007, he won the bronze medals at the European Junior Championships in the mixed doubles and team event. In the national event, he play and for the KMB and had also played for the Lillerød Badmintonklub for two years.

Andreas Pyndt Andersen is a Danish professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Hvidovre IF, on loan from Danish Superliga club Brøndby IF. He has represented Denmark at youth level.
