Dong District (Dong-gu) is a district, similar to a ward, situated in the city of Gwangju, South Korea. Mt. Mudeung is a famous landmark in the district. Modern art is displayed at the Street of Art, which was the first one of its kind in South Korea. It has Asain Cultural Center and Gwangju International Community Center.

Gwangju is the sixth-largest city in South Korea. It is a designated metropolitan city under the direct control of the central government's Home Minister. The city was also the capital of South Jeolla Province until the provincial office moved to the southern village of Namak in Muan County in 2005.

Golden Bride is a 2007 South Korean weekend television drama series starring Lee Young-ah, Song Chang-eui, Choi Yeo-jin and Kim Hee-chul. It aired on SBS TV from July 23, 2007 to February 3, 2008, airing every Saturdays and Sundays at 20:45 for 64 episodes. Due to its popularity, the series was extended by 14 episodes. The drama won the top prize at the Seoul Drama Festival on October 14, 2008 and the Special Drama Award at the International Drama Festival in Tokyo on October 22 of the same year. Daegu National Museum is in Hwanggeum 1 (il) dong. Hwanggeum Shijang, a market area and major landmark, is in the far northeastern corner of Hwanggeum 2 (i) dong, near the border of Beomeo-dong.
