Hymns is an indie rock band based in Brooklyn, New York. Originally consisting of North Carolina natives Brian Harding (vocals, guitar) and Jason Roberts (guitar, wurlitzer), the band picked up Texas-based rockers Tony Kent (drums) and Matt Shaw (bass guitar) upon arriving in New York City. Since debuting with the "infectious" [1] Brother/Sister the Hymns have been steadily gaining in popularity, appearing with such headliners as Ben Kweller, Hot Hot Heat, Beck, and the Sam Roberts Band. In 2008, the band released their second album, Travel in Herds, on the Blackland Records label. Spin Magazine named them as one of the artists to watch in 2008. [2]

Background

The band is a result of a lifelong friendship between Brian Harding and Jason Roberts, who formed it while attending Appalachian State University. Following their graduation, the power-duo temporarily disbanded, with Roberts joining the Ben Kweller band while Brian relocated to New York City. During Roberts' stint with Ben Kweller, the lead guitarist met and became close with band-member John Kent, who went on to form Blackland Records located in Celeste, TX. After hearing some of the band's work, John quickly signed the band in 2005, along with Roberts, who quit his day job to jump back on board. [3]

During recording sessions at "The Vault" (Blackland Records), the band met up with Matt Shaw and Tony Kent, two local musicians who shared the band's common background of being childhood friends. [4] With the addition to the band, Brian and Jason's dream had finally become a reality, and the group quickly started the recording process, releasing their debut album Brother/Sister in the Fall of 2006. This record release generated national attention with publications such as Spin Magazine , The New Yorker , and MTV News started taking notice. [1] With their newly acquired popularity, the band appeared with popular artists, including Ben Kweller, the Redwalls, and Butch Walker.

Amidst national tours, the band returned to the studio in 2007 to record their second album, Travel in Herds , which was released in the spring of 2008. [5]

During SXSW 2009, Hymns hired Nick Stewart as UK Management. They released new tracks, via the Appaloosa EP, on July 21, 2009. Joey McClellan and Austin Schumacher join the band for this third installment of addicting sounds.

Josh Joplin Group was an Atlanta, Georgia-based rock band led by singer-songwriter Josh Joplin. Initially a trio, Joplin hired Geoff Melkonian (bass/viola/vocals) and Jason Buecker (drums/percussion/vocals) to accompany him to play shows together. They simply called themselves Josh Joplin Band. In late 1995 they began pre-production on their first album together. Recorded at Furies Studios with producer Ed Burdell (Magnapop), Projector Head was released, January 6, 1996. Based on local critical success and some airplay on local radio Joplin, Buecker, and Melkonian, began touring vigorously, starting in the south, continuing through the northeast, and beyond.

Paramore American rock band

Paramore is an American rock band from Franklin, Tennessee, formed in 2004. The band currently consists of lead vocalist Hayley Williams, guitarist Taylor York and drummer Zac Farro. Williams and Farro are founding members of the group, while York, a high school friend of the original lineup, joined in 2007. Williams is the only member listed on the band's recording contract with Warner Music Group's Fueled by Ramen sublabel and the only member to appear on all five of Paramore's studio albums.

Changing Horses is the fourth studio album by Ben Kweller, which was expected for release in September 2008 but was eventually released on February 2, 2009 in Europe and February 3, 2009 in the United States. Kweller has described the new album as being more Country in style than his previous releases. The album features his rhythm section Chris Morrissey (bass) and Mark Stepro (drums). It also debuts the talents of Kitt Kitterman, Kweller's manager, who plays pedal steel guitar and Dobro. On November 23, 2008, the full album leaked onto the Internet. In a statement, ATO Records said the leak was not the final version of the album. The song "Hurtin' You" was debuted on Stereogum. Travel in Herds is the second studio album by the band Hymns. It was released by Blackland Records on March 11, 2008. Since the release of this album, Hymns have been recognized by Spin magazine as one of the bands to watch out for in 2008.

Art of Chaos is an alternative rock band from Los Angeles, California. Art of Chaos has toured extensively throughout California, headlining shows up and down the coast. The band took part in the southwest leg of Linkin Park's Projekt Revolution tour after winning MTV2's "L.A. Battle Projekt" competition. The band was also voted “Modern Rock Band of Year” and “Performer of the Year” at the 2007 Los Angeles Music Awards.

Mike Campese American guitarist and composer

Mike Campese is an American guitarist and composer best known for being a member of the multi-platinum group Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Campese was picked over several guitarists in 2004 during the band's fourth CD, The Lost Christmas Eve, and received a gold record for his work. In 2008 Mike released his own rock Christmas CD, The Meaning of Christmas, which was well received. Campese is an honors graduate from the Musicians Institute in Hollywood, California and is a graduate of Shaker High School.

Jason Abraham Roberts is the professional name of American musician and producer Jason Roberts. Roberts is best known for his collaborations with Norah Jones, Hymns, Ben Kweller, and The Candles.
