IKAR is a post-denominational Jewish congregation and community founded in Los Angeles and led by Rabbi Sharon Brous. [1] [2]
IKAR ("essence" in Hebrew) was founded in 2004 by Brous along with Melissa Balaban and others, including David N. Myers, Andrea Blaugrund Nevins and Daniel Sokatch. [3] Its membership includes Eric Garcetti, the former mayor of Los Angeles. [1]

Hillel was a Jewish religious leader, sage and scholar associated with the development of the Mishnah and the Talmud and the founder of the House of Hillel school of tannaim. He was active during the end of the first century BCE and the beginning of the first century CE.

Upon nomination of President Joe Biden after a previously failed nomination the year before, Garcetti was finally confirmed as Ambassador to India by the Senate on a 52–42 vote on March 15, 2023.

The Louis and Judith Miller Introduction to Judaism Program is an educational institute based at the American Jewish University in Bel Air, Los Angeles, California.
