The IMOCA 60 class yacht Group LG 2 was designed by Finot-Conq and launched in 1995 after being made by MAG-JMV in Cherbourg in France. [1] The Canadian skipper Gerry Rouf lost his life when the boat overturned in the southern ocean during the 1996-1997 Vendee Globe. [2] [3]

The Vendée Globe is a single-handed (solo) non-stop round the world yacht race. The race was founded by Philippe Jeantot in 1989, and since 1992 has taken place every four years. It is named after the Département of Vendée, in France, where the race starts and ends. The Vendée Globe is considered an extreme quest of individual endurance and the ultimate test in ocean racing.
The Single-handed Trans-Atlantic Race (STAR) is an east-to-west yacht race across the North Atlantic. When inaugurated in 1960, it was the first single-handed ocean yacht race; it is run from Plymouth in England to Newport, Rhode Island in the United States, and has generally been held on a four yearly basis.

The International Monohull Open Class Association (IMOCA) is the governing body of the IMOCA class. Its main task is to design the class regulations for the ocean racing yachts IMOCA 50 and IMOCA 60 and organising regattas and single-handed circum-navigation regattas. It was established in 1991. IMOCA has been a member of the ISAF (International Sailing Federation) since 1999.
The 2020–2021 Vendée Globe was a non-stop round the world yacht race for IMOCA 60 class yachts crewed by only one person. It was the ninth edition of the race, which started and finished in Les Sables-d'Olonne, France. The race began on 8 November 2020, with the first finishers completing the course on 27 January 2021 with the 25th and final yacht to complete the race arrived on 5 March 2021.

The IMOCA 60 Class yacht Bonduelle 2, FRA 59 was designed by Marc Lombard and launched in the April 2004 after being built JMV based in Cherbourg, France. The boat was lost during the 2008-2009 Vendee Globe following the loss of the keel bulb the skipper Jean Le Cam was rescued by fellow competitor Vincent Riou
The IMOCA 60 Class yacht SILL PLEIN FRUIT, FRA 29 was designed by Marc Lombard and launched in the 1999 after being built MAG based in France. The boat was lost in 2006 Velux 5 Ocean Race, when he was rescued by fellow competitor Mike Golding deep in the Southern Ocean. The written off hull was found nine years later washed up, 10,000 miles from where it was abandoned.
The IMOCA 60 class yacht SODEBO savourons la vie, 25 was designed by Finot-Conq and launched in October 1998, after being made by Kirié in France. The boat was lost in 2016 while on charter to Richard Tolkien when he abandoned ship. The wreckage was found near Porto Rico.

The IMOCA 60 class yacht Gartmore Investment, GBR 55 was designed by Finot-Conq, and launched in May 1998 after being made by JMV Industries in Cherbourg, France. Note during 1996-1997 the IMOCA 60 Coyote was branded Gartmore while this boat was being built.

The IMOCA 60 Class yacht Spirit Of Yukoh V, JPN 11 also known as DMG Mori was designed by VPLP Design Office in partnership with Gurit for the structural design. The boat is a sistership to IMOCA 60 Charal but produced afterwards by Multiplast in France. The boat was launched on the 2nd September 2019.
The IMOCA 60 Class yacht No Way Back, NED 160 was designed by VPLP design and Guillaume Verdier and launched in the 18 August 2015 after being built Persico in Italy. The boat had structural issues during the 2022 Route de Rhum when the ballast tanks demounted themselves. This while retiring from the race the previous day and heading back towards Portugal led to an onboard fire and the boat was lost,
The IMOCA 60 Class yacht Galileo, BRA 411 was designed by Angelo Lavranos and Artech Design Team launched in June 2005 and built by Artech do Brasil.

The IMOCA 60 Class yacht Credit Agricole IV was designed and built by Marc Lombard the boats original skipper formed a company "Jeantot Marine" which built the boat it was launched Jan 1989. The boat was lost while unofficial competing in the 1996-1997 Vendee Globe with Italian skipper Raphael Dinelli dramatically rescued by fellow competitor Pete Goss.
