Iberostar Hotels & Resorts is a hotel chain based in specializing in 4 and 5-star hotels, owned by Iberostar Group. Iberostar Group has four areas of business: the hotel division, the core business of the company; the holiday club, called The Club; (the inbound tourism and travel brands Almundo.com, World to Meet (W2M) and Iberoservice; and the property business. The company's trademark is "first line" hotels (meaning directly on the beach), surrounded by gardens.

Iberostar Group is owned by Spanish billionaire Miguel Fluxà Rosselló, the third generation heir to a shoe-making business. [1]

Miguel Fluxà Rosselló is a Spanish billionaire businessman, and the chairman and 100% owner of Grupo Iberostar, which owns 100 hotels and resorts in 16 countries. Fluxà Rosselló is the "third generation heir to a shoe-making business".

Iberostar's head office is in Mallorca, Spain, and hotels that operate under their brand name are located in the continents of Europe, North America, Latin America, [2] [3] and Africa.

The company temporarily closed the Rose Hall Beach Hotel (but not the adjoining Rose Hall Suites Hotel or Rose Hall Grand Hotel), one of its resorts in Jamaica. [4] [5] It reopened in May 2010.

In April 2010, Iberostar announced that the actor Antonio Banderas would be the new face of a global campaign to promote the company's hotels and resorts. [7]

José Antonio Domínguez Bandera, known professionally as Antonio Banderas, is a Spanish actor, producer and singer. He began his acting career with a series of films by director Pedro Almodóvar and then appeared in high-profile Hollywood films, especially in the 1990s, including Assassins, Evita, Interview with the Vampire, Philadelphia, Desperado, The Mask of Zorro, Take the Lead, The Expendables 3, and Spy Kids. Banderas also provided the voice of Puss in Boots in the Shrek series and its spin-off film Puss in Boots as well as the bee in the U.S. Nasonex commercials.

Iberostar has received negative press related to resorts in Mexico suspected of drugging tourists. There have been... "numerous reports from others who have told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel they experienced sickness, blackouts and injuries after drinking at Iberostar, and other resorts around Cancun and Playa del Carmen in recent months." [8] . Iberostar's resort location in Playa del Carmen was also cited in other reports, by the Journal Sentinel and CBS News, regarding TripAdvisor and its controversial review guidelines. Red-flag reviews of two women staying at the resort in 2010 and 2015, who were allegedly raped, one by a security guard who worked for the resort, were taken down by the travel website. [9]

In December 2005 the Canadians sold their interest to an Anglo-Dutch syndicate, and the owners engaged the Spanish group NH Hotels as operator. The resort was renamed the NH Krystal Laguna Villas and Resort, until December 2010, when NH ceased to manage it. From 2012, the hotel has been separated into two parts, both to be managed by the Iberostar group - part branded the Iberostar Mojito and the other the Iberostar Cayo Coco.

Playa De La Arena is a resort town located just south of the resorts of Los Gigantes and Puerto Santiago in the Santiago del Teide municipality on the West Coast of Tenerife, Spain. Close to Los Gigantes, the giant cliffs of the resort can be seen from across Playa De La Arena. The resort has many restaurants, bars and shops aimed mainly at tourists. Tourism in Costa Rica

Tourism in Costa Rica is one of the fastest growing economic sectors of the country and by 1995 became the largest foreign exchange earner. Since 1999, tourism earns more foreign exchange than bananas, pineapples and coffee exports combined. The tourism boom began in 1987, with the number of visitors up from 329,000 in 1988, through 1.03 million in 1999, over 2 million in 2008, to a historical record of 2.66 million foreign visitors in 2015. Federal Highway 305D is a toll highway in Quintana Roo. It serves as a spur of Federal Highway 180D (Mérida-Cancún) to Playa del Carmen, creating a direct connection between Yucatán and Playa del Carmen and avoiding detours through Cancún or Tulum.
