Ibrahim Faisal (born July 18,1986) is the incumbent Tourism Minister of Maldives,a Maldivian politician who earlier served as deputy minister in the Ministry of Youth and Sports from 2013 to 2015. [1] He also served as an additional secretary at the High Commission of Maldives in Malaysia From 2015 to 2018. [2]
Faisal is the son of Abdulla Raheem Abdulla,who was MP for Fonadhoo constituency as well as the deputy leader of the Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM). [3]
Maumoon Abdul Gayoom is a Maldivian politician who served as President of the Maldives from 1978 to 2008. After serving as transport minister,he was nominated president by the People's Majlis and succeeded Ibrahim Nasir in 1978. He was defeated in 2008 during the first Presidential Elections after democratic reforms in the Maldives. He holds the nations highest award,"The Most Honourable Order of Distinguished Rule of Ghaazee",presented to him in 2013. Maumoon was the longest-serving president in Asia.
Al Ameer Ibrahim Nasir Rannabandeyri Kilegefan,KCMG,NGIV commonly known as Ibrahim Nasir,was a Maldivian politician adhering to the non-aligned ideology and staunch anti-imperialist. Nasir served as the Prime Minister of the Maldives from 1957 to 1968 under the monarchy,and later the first President of the Second Republic of Maldives from 1968 to 1978. Nasir served two terms,then he decided to retire,even though the People's Majlis voted him in for a third term. Nasir is remembered as an independence hero for guiding the Maldives to independence from the British Empire,he is also credited for establishing the tourism industry in the Maldives,as well as rapidly modernizing and developing the country and economy.
The Maldivian Democratic Party is the first political party formed in the Republic of Maldives with a total membership of 52,142 individuals as of 5 March 2024. The 2019 parliamentary election was the first time one party was able to secure a majority in parliament without forming a coalition.

In accordance with its expansion to West Malaysia in November 2017,the party was rebranded with its new name and logo from the Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP),a former component party of the BN coalition. He served as the 3rd Chairman of the BN Backbenchers Club from April 2008 to June 2013. He also served as President of SPDP from May 2014 to November 2017 and Deputy President of SPDP from March 2012 to his promotion to the SPDP presidency in May 2014 and previously the Treasurer-General of SPDP.
