IDEA Verona is an Italian language, art, and culture school for foreigners visiting or living in Verona. The school was founded in 1998 and is located at the Don Bosco Institute in the historical centre of Verona. [1]

Language classes are offered at every level of Italian, from beginning to advanced. Other classes offered include art history, Italian cooking, fresco painting, and speciality courses for students studying in music and opera singing. [2]

IDEA Verona is an accredited language school and collaborates with the study abroad programs of the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign (USA), [3] British Columbia University (Canada), and Macquarie University(Australia). Within Verona, the school operates accordance with the Chamber of Commerce of Verona and the Dante Alighieri Society. The school is an authorised centre of PLIDA (Progetto Lingua Italiana Dante Alighieri) the recognised certificate in Italian language, according to Università La Sapienza - Roma.

University of Illinois College of Education

The College of Education at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign was founded in 1905. The college offers undergraduate, graduate, and online programs in areas including elementary education, early childhood education, special education, and Educational Organization and Leadership. It began with six departments; three of them merged and formed the largest department in the college. All departments offer masters and doctoral degrees. Eva Mary Barbara Reynolds was an English scholar of Italian Studies, lexicographer and translator. She wrote and edited several books concerning Dorothy Sayers and was president of the Dorothy L. Sayers Society. She turned 100 in June 2014. Her first marriage was to the philologist and translator Lewis Thorpe.

It was founded in 1974 by the Sisters of St. John the Baptist, and is named after Dante Alighieri, a major Italian poet of the Middle Ages in the 13th century.

PLIDA, or Progetto Lingua Italiana Dante Alighieri, are language diplomas issued by Dante Alighieri Society certifying the holder's proficiency in Italian language as a foreign language. The diplomas could only be obtained after passing a standardised language test. The Rome Branch of the Dante Alighieri Society is the official centre of examination for the issuing of PLIDA Certification.

IAU College

Istituto Venezia scuola di lingua e Cultura Italiana a Venezia e Trieste is a private school of Italian for foreigners involved in spreading the Italian language and culture. The school is located in Campo Santa Margherita in Venice and since 2004 has been located in the city centre of Trieste.

Aldo Duro was an Italian linguist and lexicographer. He worked for both the Accademia della Crusca and the Enciclopedia Italiana, of which he was director of the lexicography. Duro was also the director of the Italian Vocabulary.
