Idlewhile is a Longmont, Colorado based Americana folk band, described as pop infused country/bluegrass. [1]

Formed by Steven Phoenix, Giselle Collazo, Miguel Ramos (formerly of the Boulder, CO band Cabaret Diosa])and songwriter friend Doug Holden in May 2010. Paul Tedesco joined the project on double bass and Matthew Lawlor stepped in to take over drums, banjo and harmony vocals in November 2010. Holden left the group in October 2011, and was replaced by Chad Granoff on guitar and mandolin before being replaced by Seth Goodman (formerly of the Boulder, CO band 18 Switchbacks.) in August 2012. Their focus has been on live performances with 50 live performances throughout Colorado in their first 18 months together. Idlewhile released their first album in 2011 on iTunes with a blend of original studio-produced and live songs. Idlewhile’s musical style has been called “richly acoustic on one hand, seductively rock on the other.” by the Longmont Times-Call . [3]

Their music has been compared to Colorado bands Elephant Revival and Paper Bird [3]

History

Phoenix and Collazo began writing and playing music together at the end of the workweek. Phoenix named their collaboration Idlewhile to celebrate this idle and peaceful time. [3] In 2012 violin player, Ramos heard their tunes and suggested they take it seriously and bring their music to the public. Together they set out to recruit “musician friends who shared the vision.”

16 Horsepower American alternative country music group

16 Horsepower was an American alternative country music group based in Denver, Colorado, United States. Their music often invoked religious imagery dealing with conflict, redemption, punishment, and guilt through David Eugene Edwards's lyrics and the heavy use of traditional bluegrass, gospel, and Appalachian instrumentation cross-bred with rock. For the bulk of its career, the band consisted of Edwards, Jean-Yves Tola, and Pascal Humbert, the latter two formerly of the French band Passion Fodder. After releasing four studio albums and touring extensively, the group broke up in 2005, citing "mostly political and spiritual" differences. The members remain active in the groups Woven Hand and Lilium.

Railroad Earth

Railroad Earth is a bluegrass-influenced American band formed in Stillwater, New Jersey in 2001. The band's music combines elements of progressive bluegrass, folk, rock, country, jazz, Celtic and other Americana influences. Recognized as "carrying on the tradition of improvisational, genre-spanning music laid forth by the Grateful Dead," Railroad Earth is known for lyrical songwriting and extensive live improvisation. The band takes its name from the Jack Kerouac prose poem "October in the Railroad Earth". The band also has a song of the same name.

The Yawpers

The Yawpers are a three-piece rock and roll band from Denver, Colorado. Their name is derived from a Walt Whitman poem, entitled "Song of Myself" from Leaves of Grass: "I sound my barbaric yawp over the roofs of the world." The Yawpers play in a unique setting of two acoustic guitar players and drummer, yet their music is played with "raucous glee comparable to seeing a metal band".

2018 Colorado elections State election

A general election was held in the U.S. state of Colorado on November 6, 2018. All of Colorado's executive officers were up for election as well as all of Colorado's seven seats in the United States House of Representatives. The Democrats swept all of the statewide offices.
