Anambra State is a Nigerian state located in the South-eastern region of the country. The state was created on 27 August 1991. Anambra state is bounded by Delta State to the west,Imo State and Rivers State to the south,Enugu State to the east and Kogi State to the north. The state's capital is Awka,while the state’s largest city is Onitsha which is regarded as one of the largest metropolises in Africa. Nnewi is the second largest commercial and industrial city in Anambra State,and also a known automobile hub within Nigeria and Africa.

Towns that make up the local government are Aguleri,Enugwu Aguleri,Eziagulu Otu Aguleri,Enugwu Otu Aguleri,Mkpunando-otu Aguleri,Ikem Ivite,Igbariam,Umuoba Anam,Nando,Umueri,and Nsugbe.It is part of the Greater Onitsha Metropolis.

Justice Ijem Onwuamaegbu was the first female Chief Judge of Anambra State. She was made the chairman of Anambra State Law Revision Committee on 13 December 2018. She graduated from University of Nigeria in 1977 and was called to the Nigerian Bar on 7 July 1978. She was sworn in as a Judge of the Anambra State High Court of Justice on 8 May 2001. She served in the National Assembly/Governorship/Legislative Houses Election Petition Tribunals in Nasarawa State and Ondo State in 2007 and 2008. Justice Onwuamaegbu was sworn in as the Acting Chief Judge of Anambra State on 1 March 2019 and was subsequently appointed and sworn in as the substantive Chief Judge of Anambra State in August 2019 becoming the first Female Chief Judge of Anambra State. She retired on 3 September 2019 on attainment of the mandatory constitutional retirement age of 65 years.

Ito Ogbo Festival is a festival predominantly common amongst the Obosi people at the Idemili North Local Government area at Anambra State. The festival aims at celebrating elders who are between 80 –89 years old while they are alive. The festival holds every three years in the community,and it has been celebrating elderly who were born at the time that the community was established.
