Illbruck Challenge is a Volvo Ocean 60 yacht. [1] She won the 2001–02 Volvo Ocean Race skippered by John Kostecki. [2]

Volvo Ocean 60

The Whitbread 60 (W60) or Volvo Ocean 60 (VO60) was a box rule that was devised to govern the 10 smaller yachts which took part the 1993–94 Whitbread Round the World Race. They were raced with such success that the following race was restricted to the Whitbread 60 class only. The class was used for the last time in the 2001–02 Volvo Ocean Race, after which it was replaced by the sophisticated, canting keel Volvo Open 70 box rule.

John Paul Kostecki is an American competitive sailor of Polish descent. He was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He started his sailing career in the San Francisco Bay, California.

The Ocean Race is a yacht race around the world, held every three years. Volvo Ocean 65

The Volvo Ocean 65 is a class of monohull racing yachts. It is the successor to the Volvo Open 70 yacht used in past editions of the Volvo Ocean Race. It was announced at a conference in Lorient, France, during a stopover in the 2011–12 Volvo Ocean Race. The yacht was used in the 2014–2015 and the 2017–2018 editions. The 2014-2015 Volvo Ocean Race was the first one-design event.

Petrus Reininus Johannes "Peter" van Niekerk is a sailor from the Netherlands, who represented his country for the first time at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney. With Roy Heiner as helmsman and Dirk de Ridder as fellow crew member, Van Niekerk took the 4th place in the Soling. In the 2004 Olympics in Athena Van Niekerk made his second Olympic appearance. This time in the Dutch Star with Mark Neeleman as helmsman. They took 14th place.
