Illustreret Tidende was a Danish weekly illustrated magazine published from 1859 to 1924 in Denmark with international news, literature and entertainment content. [1]
Illustreret Tidende was founded by Otto Herman Delbanco (originally a music publisher) with inspiration from similar magazines elsewhere, such as the German Illustrirte Zeitung and the English Illustrated London News . [2] The first issue stated the raison d'être of the magazine: "a weekly report on important events and contemporary celebrities, novels, stories, traveller's stories, and other contents from science, literature, art and industry". [3] The target group was the bourgeoisie and academics.
The painter Otto Bache's illustrations from the Danish-German war of 1864 were a break-through into mainstream for the magazine. All the illustrations were compiled into a special issue in 1964 comprising two hundred woodcuts of this important conflict, which undermined the Danish identity of being a major European military power.
Many young writing talents joined the magazine, e.g. Georg Brandes (who wrote literary and theater criticism) in 1862, although he was fired in 1869 when his views diverged from those of the editors. Graphic contributors included Lorenz Frølich, Carl Bloch, Julius Exner, Peter Tom-Petersen, Anton Dorph and Henrik Olrik

Se og Hør is a TV guide and celebrity journalism magazine published in three independent versions in Denmark, Norway and Sweden by the Danish company Aller Media. The Danish version is the oldest. The Danish and Swedish editions are published weekly, the Norwegian, the largest of the three, twice a week. It is the largest circulation illustrated weekly in all three countries; the Norwegian version has sometimes had the largest weekly circulation in Scandinavia.

Ved Vejen is a short novel written by the Danish author Herman Bang in 1886. It was originally published in Copenhagen by Det Schubotheske Forlag as part of a collection of four stories entitled Stille Eksistenser, centering on women who are subdued or living in isolation. It was first published independently in 1898. An impressionist novel, it relates the story of Katinka, a sensitive but ambitious young woman married to a boisterous and somewhat vulgar station master, Bai.

Submarino is a 2010 Danish drama film directed by Thomas Vinterberg, starring Jakob Cedergren and Peter Plaugborg. It is based on the 2007 novel Submarino by Jonas T. Bengtsson, and focuses on two brothers on the bottom of Danish society, with lives marked by violence and drug addiction. The film was produced by Nimbus Film. As a condition from the financier TV 2, half of the cast and crew were novices, which the director enjoyed as it gave an experience similar to his earliest films.

Carl Julius Aller was a Danish publisher of the late 19th and early 20th century and founder of Aller Media, the largest publisher of weekly magazines in the Nordic countries and still controlled by the Aller family.

Vilhelm Rasmus Andreas Andersen was a Danish author, literary historian and intellectual, who primarily focused on the study of Danish literature. He was one of the first to use the term "Golden Age of Culture" to refer to the 1800s, and his focus on bringing Danish literature to the public earned him great popularity. Andersen was instrumental in the development of the School of Radio, as a means of disseminating public education to prevent loss of cultural identity and treasures.
Peter Tom-Petersen was a Danish painter and graphic artist, known primarily for cityscapes, interiors and other architectural paintings. His name was Peter Thomsen Petersen until 1920, when he had it legally changed to match his signature: "Tom P."

Athalia Theophilia Schwartz, pen name Hieronymus, was a Danish writer, journalist and educator. She was an important female contributor to 19th-century Danish literature, publishing schoolbooks, poetry, drama and short stories. She was employed by Berlingske Tidende as a theatre critic. She also wrote about the conditions and lives of prostitutes in England, the Netherlands and Belgium.
Laura Christiane Aller née Bierring (1849–1917) was a Danish business woman and a pioneering magazine publisher. She first helped her husband Carl Aller to develop his photolithographic method of image production to establish a magazine containing recipes in 1874. The beautifully illustrated Illustreret Familie-Journal published from 1877 proved to be a huge success. Laura Aller not only had a flair for business, she understood exactly what people wanted to read. As editor-in-chief, she translated articles from the foreign press and added her own stories and poetry. After colour was added in 1895, sales increased dramatically and production was moved to larger premises on Vigerslev Allé in Valby. Aller Media, now based on Havneholmen in Copenhagen's South Harbour, is still run by the Aller family.
Alfhilda Theodora Adelheid Mechlenburgnée Suenssen (1830–1907), pen name Ivan Ring, was a Danish novelist and short story writer. Brought up by a mother deeply interested in literature, like her younger sisters Fanny Suenssen and Teckla Juel she devoted her life to writing. After first contributing short stories to journals, she published her acclaimed To Fortællinger in 1872. She went on to publish a series of novels and short stories until 1893, gaining wide popularity both in Denmark and Sweden.
