Improbasen is a nationwide center in Norway, where children learn to play jazz.

Biography

Improbasens methods for teaching even small children to play complex music, has attracted attention all over Norway and abroad. Since 2008, some of the most progressive jazz musicians in Norway, including Thomas Strønen, Ole Morten Vågan, Hedvig Mollestad Thomassen, Mats Eilertsen, Hanna Paulsberg and Tore Brunborg, have conducted workshops at the center. Projects

Improbasen has engaged in comprehensive educational projects in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Switzerland, Austria and Japan. [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] [8] [9] [10] [11]

The center also helped develop the jazz club Barnas Jazzhus, and the international festival Kids in Jazz. In August 2014, the founder of Improbasen, Odd André Elveland, received the award Ella-prisen for his work with children and jazz. [12] [13] [14]

Eighteen countries took part in the competition. All participants performed a classical piece of their choice accompanied by the Belgian National Orchestra, conducted by Ronald Zollman. Hungary and Poland made their début, while Greece and Italy decided not to participate.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Frode Fjellheim</span> Norwegian yoiker and musician

Frode Fjellheim is a Southern Saami yoiker and musician from Norway. He is best known for his band Transjoik and as the composer of the 2002 song "Eatnemen Vuelie", which was later adapted to become the opening musical number of Frozen. Fjellheim was raised in Gausdal Municipality and Karasjok Municipality, and is South Sámi.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Marc Hungerbuhler</span>

Marc Anton Kyu Hungerbühler is a New York City―based multimedia artist and curator. He was born in Switzerland to a Swiss father and a Korean mother. He has one sister, Cosima Hungerbühler. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Parsons School of Design in 1985, and went on to a summer residency at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture. He has exhibited his works in Korea, Japan, China, the United States, and Europe. In 2002, he founded the:artist:network, an independent arts organization based in downtown Manhattan and Beijing, for which he serves as director. For the:artist:network, he has organized and curated more than 40 international exhibitions and established residency programs in New York, Switzerland, and China.

The Ben Webster Prize is an annual jazz award set up by the Ben Webster Foundation to honour Danish and American jazz musicians as well as other professionals active in the promotion of jazz in those countries. The American jazz musician Ben Webster spent his last ten years in Copenhagen, Denmark, where he became an active part of the city's thriving jazz scene. After his death, the Ben Webster Foundation was set up to channel his annual royalties to musicians in Denmark and America. The Ben Webster Prize is part of this effort.

Hugo Rasmussen was a Danish bassist. Rasmussen is best known for his album Sweets to the Sweet (1978). Sweets To the Sweet was re-released in 2001 on Danish label Music Mecca.

The Frauenfeld–Wil railway is a 1,000 mmmetre gauge railway line in Switzerland, which connects the town of Frauenfeld in the canton of Thurgau, to the town of Wil in the canton of St. Gallen, following the valley of the Murg river. The Frauenfeld-Wil-Bahn (FWB) opened the line in 1887 and operated it until 2021, when that company merged into Appenzell Railways. The line is included in Tarifverbund Ostwind, and operates as service S15 of the St. Gallen S-Bahn.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Pandijazz</span>

Pandijazz, also known as Los Pequeños Gigantes del Jazz, was founded in 2010 in Barquisimeto, Lara State. It is the only all youth jazz band in Venezuela. The school has about 20 members in the band, all between the ages of 6 and 16 years old.
