Amofa Michael (born 17 October 1994) known professionally as Incredible Zigi, is a Ghanaian dance artist and choreographer. [1] [2]

Dance career

Michael began dancing professionally in 2003, [3] on the streets of Accra. [4]

His career began with the help of his brother, who gave him the opportunity to travel and participate in dance workshops. [5]

He is credited to have created the PILOLO and KUPE dance steps as elements in Afrobeats/Azonto. [6] Musicians such as Janet Jackson have infused these dance steps in their choreography and have performed them on tour and in their videos. [7] The KUPE dance was featured on the NBA 2K20 by the game developers Visual Concepts. [8] Michael is noted for his dance challenges on social media. [9]

Original dances

Kupe - Kupe Dance is a song by Ghanaian-UK-based artist A-Star. But Michael is credited to have created the KUPE dance steps. [10]

Pilolo - Pilolo dance was created by Michael and became a hit in New York City with Janet Jackson performing Pilolo at the end of her performance “Made for Now” on “The Tonight Show” starring Jimmy Fallon. The name Pilolo was borrowed from a hide and seek game popular among Ghanaian kids. [11]

Ena - Ena', is a popularly used Akan language conjunction which translates to English as “And”. Michael Started the Ena Dance in 2019 and it is known for going viral on social media within weeks. [10]

Afrobeat is a music genre that involves the combination of elements of West African musical styles such as fuji music and highlife with American jazz and later soul and funk influences, with a focus on chanted vocals, complex intersecting rhythms, and percussion. Rhythm Nation (music video) 1989 American film

The music video for recording artist Janet Jackson's single "Rhythm Nation" was directed by Dominic Sena. It was filmed as part of the long-form video Rhythm Nation 1814 film at a power plant located in Pasadena, California. The video is notable for its "post-apocalyptic" warehouse setting, the unisex black military-style uniforms in which Jackson and her dancers were outfitted, and its choreography, considered to "set the template for hundreds of videos to come in the Nineties and aughts." The "Rhythm Nation" video was released on September 19, 1989, to coincide with the release of Jackson's fourth studio album, Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation 1814 (1989).

VanJess

VanJess is a Nigerian-American R&B duo composed of sisters Ivana and Jessica Nwokike. The duo began their career on YouTube performing cover songs. "Lottery", later re-titled as "Lottery (Renegade)" is a song by American rapper K Camp from his third studio album Wayy 2 Kritical (2019). It was released as the album's third single on April 1, 2019, by Rare Sound and Interscope Records. The song was written by K Camp himself and produced by Reazy Renegade. In late 2019, the song went viral online, due to a dance challenge on TikTok, becoming the first sound on the platform to reach 20 million videos. K Camp credited choreographer Jalaiah Harmon for creating the dance challenge, after controversy arose due to Harmon not initially getting credit for it. Julian Nicco-Annan, better known by his stage name Juls, is a British-Ghanaian record producer, disc jockey, and musician. He is considered one of the pioneering producers of African music in the diaspora, particularly in Afrobeats circles. He is best known for the production of songs like Bankulize and "Skin Tight" by Mr Eazi which accrued over two million views on YouTube; "Feel Alright" by Show Dem Camp, Rudebwoi Love by Stonebwoy and Gwarn by Burna Boy. Izzy Odigie US/Nigerian choreographer

Iziegbe (Izzy) Odigie is a New York born Nigerian afrobeats choreographer. In 2019 she was one of OkayAfrica's "100 women".

Laud Anoo Konadu known professionally as Dancegod Lloyd, is a Ghanaian dancer, dance coach and choreographer. He is a co-founder of the dance school, DWP academy. In 2020, he performed in Beyonce's Already music video which featured Shatta Wale.

Solomon Obeng, popularly known as DJ Loft, is a Ghanaian radio and events disc jockey. In 2021 he was nominated for the Afrobeat/Hiplife DJ of the Year and Mixtape of the Year at the Ghana DJ Awards.
