The Samajwadi Party is a socialist political party in India. It was founded on 4 October 1992 by former Janata Dal politician Mulayam Singh Yadav and is headquartered in New Delhi. The Samajwadi Party is currently led by former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh,Akhilesh Yadav. As of 2024,it is currently the third-largest political party in India,and the largest party in Uttar Pradesh.

Bhairon Singh Shekhawat was an Indian politician who served as the 11th vice president of India. He served in that position from August 2002,when he was elected to a five-year term by the electoral college following the death of Krishan Kant,until he resigned on 21 July 2007,after losing the presidential election to Pratibha Patil. Bhairon Singh Shekhawat was a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. He served as the Chief Minister of Rajasthan three times,from 1977 to 1980,1990 to 1992 and 1993 to 1998. He represented several constituencies in Rajasthan Vidhan Sabha from 1952 to 2002. He was also awarded Padma Bhushan in the year 2003.

He represents Sardarpura constituency of Jodhpur as Member of Legislative Assembly of Rajasthan since 1999. He was a Member of Parliament,Lok Sabha from Jodhpur from 1991 to 1999 and from 1980 to 1989 and Union Minister of State for Textile from 1991 to 1993,Tourism and Civil aviation from 1984 to 1984 and Deputy Union minister for Sports from 1984 to 1984. He was also a national General secretary of Congress Party,in-charge of organisations and training from March 2018 to 23 January 2019. He was also made in-charge of Gujarat state in 2017 Gujarat Legislative Assembly election.

Akhilesh Yadav is an Indian politician and national president of the Samajwadi Party who served as the 20th Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. Having assumed the chief minister's office on 15 March 2012 at the age of 38,he is the youngest person to have held the office till date. He is the incumbent Member of Parliament for Kannauj in the 18th Lok Sabha. He is the parliamentary party leader of Samajwadi Party in 18th Lok Sabha. He was the President of Bharatiya Janata Party,Rajasthan state unit from 1999 to 2000. He was also the member of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly from Udaipur from 2003 to 2023 and from 1977 to 1986 and from Bari Sadri from 1993 to 2003.
Diya Kumari is an Indian politician from Bharatiya Janata Party currently serving as the 6th Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan alongside Prem Chand Bairwa in the ministry of Bhajan Lal Sharma. She currently represents Vidhyadhar Nagar as an MLA in the 16th Rajasthan Legislative Assembly. She is a member of Kachhwaha family of the Jaipur State.

Before 2017 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly elections,he was made state president of the BJP,and after the victory of BJP,he was appointed as Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh in the first Yogi Adityanath Government. Maurya again contested the legislative assembly elections in 2022 from Sirathu Assembly constituency,losing to Pallavi Patel of Samajwadi Party. However,he was given a second term as Deputy CM in the second Yogi Adityanath government.
Elections to the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly were held on 28 November 2018 to elect members of the 230 constituencies in Madhya Pradesh. The election was a direct political battle between the BJP and the INC. One of the main centers of attraction was the contest between Congress heavy-weight Arun Yadav and the then Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. While the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government had tried to win for consecutive 4th term,the INC fought for winning the state after 2003. The election led to a hung assembly,with the INC emerging as the single largest party and the BJP winning the popular vote. After the results,Congress and BSP formed the government with Kamal Nath becoming the chief minister.

The election was held on 17 October 2022 and counting of votes took place on 19 October 2022. Mallikarjun Kharge won the election amassing 7,897 votes compared to 1,072 of Shashi Tharoor.
