Infanteria is a South African progressive thrash metal band from Cape Town formed in 2005.
Thrash metal band Infanteria started out with the brothers Chris and Rob Hall playing Metallica covers in 2005. The band was officially started in early 2006 when Barry Pieterse joined, followed shortly thereafter by Jarrod Firmani. [1] Infanteria have played numerous South African festivals, namely Metal4Africa's SummerFest'13 and co-headlined WinterFest'15. [2] Infanteria played at RAMFest twice, the first time being in 2011. In 2014 they then opened for Trivium and Killswitch Engage. [3] [4]
Infanteria represented South Africa at Wacken Open Air (W:O:A) in August 2013, after winning their local heat in Cape Town and the South African finals in Johannesburg of the Wacken Metal Battle.
Infanteria's lyrical content makes many inferences to war, personal struggles and mortality.
Infanteria released their first single in 2009, on Hammer the Masses 2 compilation album titled "Making a Killing". The second single was released on Hammer the Masses 3 complication album in 2010, titled "Let Death Decide". "Cataclysmic Oppression" was the lead single for debut album Isolated Existence in 2013. In 2015 two singles were released in support of the Where Serpents Conquer album titled "Throes of Fear" and "We All Have Dreams". The latest single, titled "Embrace The Trauma", was released on June 3, 2022 in support of Infanteria's third album, Patriarch.
On February 2 2013, Infanteria released their debut album, Isolated Existence [5] via Burning Tone Records. The album was mixed and mastered by Louis Henn of Burning Tone Studios.
On July 3 2015, Infanteria released their sophomore album, Where Serpents Conquer [6] via Burning Tone Records. The album was mixed and mastered by Louis Henn and Heinrich Köllner of Burning Tone Studios.
On June 17 2022, Infanteria released their third album, Patriarch. [7] The album was produced, mixed and mastered by Heinrich Köllner.
Einherjer is a Viking metal band from Haugesund, Norway, founded in 1993. Some of the band's albums are heavily folk influenced, while others have a more traditional symphonic black metal sound. Their lyrics retell Norse legends, and each of their albums has its own theme. The band split up in early 2004 after releasing the album Blot in December 2003, but later reformed.
William Sheehan is an American musician known for playing bass guitar with acts such as Talas, Steve Vai, David Lee Roth, Mr. Big, Niacin, and The Winery Dogs. He is also known for his "lead bass" playing style, including the use of chording, two-handed tapping, "three-finger picking" technique and controlled feedback. Sheehan has been voted "Best Rock Bass Player" five times in Guitar Player readers' polls.
Kai Michael Hansen is a German musician who is the founder, lead guitarist and vocalist of power metal band Gamma Ray. He is also one of the co-founders of another power metal band Helloween, which he rejoined in 2016. He is a prominent figure in power metal and has sold millions of albums worldwide. He is regarded as "the godfather of power metal", having founded two seminal bands in the genre. In 2011, he joined the band Unisonic featuring former Helloween vocalist Michael Kiske. Hansen and Kiske reunited with Helloween in 2017 for a world tour with all current members, celebrating the 30-year anniversary of release of the albums Keeper of the Seven Keys Parts I and II.
Mortification is an Australian Christian death metal band which was formed in 1987 as a heavy metal group, Lightforce, by mainstay Steve Rowe on bass guitar and vocals. By 1990, in the Melbourne suburb of Moorabbin, they were renamed as Mortification with the line-up of Rowe, Michael Carlisle on guitar and Jayson Sherlock on drums. Mortification has released fourteen studio albums, three compilation albums, three extended plays, six live discs, one demo album, one box set, and several videos on major record labels such as Nuclear Blast. As one of the earliest internationally successful Christian death metal bands from Australia, they served as an inspiration for later similar groups.
