He portrays a rudo wrestling character. He started out under the ring name Engendro del Mal and later adopted the name Damián El Terrible, before being shortened to his current name.

He previously worked as Ángel de Plata between 2008 and 2012 before adopting his current ring name. A second-generation wrestler, he is the son of retired wrestler Apolo Chávez, and the brother of Miguel Ángel Chávez Velasco, who is also a luchador under the ring name Ángel de Oro.
William Arturo Muñoz González is a Mexican luchador, known both nationally and internationally under the ring name Rush. He has formerly worked for AAA in Mexico, Dragon Gate in Japan and extensively on the Mexican independent circuit. Vangelis is the winner of the 2013 En Busca de un Ídolo tournament and a former holder of the Mexican National Light Heavyweight Championship.
Los Ingobernables is a lucha libre stable, based in the Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) promotion. It was formed in April 2014 by La Máscara, Rush and La Sombra, and has since become renowned as one of the top antagonistic groups in CMLL history. As members of the group, La Máscara has held the CMLL World Light Heavyweight Championship and the CMLL World Tag Team Championship alongside Rush, while La Sombra has held the NWA World Historic Middleweight and Welterweight Championships. Through CMLL's working relationship with New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW), Tetsuya Naito joined the stable in 2015, eventually forming an offshoot group named Los Ingobernables de Japón in the Japanese promotion.

The event commemorated the 82nd anniversary of the creation of CMLL, which is the oldest still-active professional wrestling promotion in the world. CMLL's anniversary shows are their biggest, most important show of the year, comparable to the Super Bowl for the National Football League or WrestleMania for WWE. The CMLL Anniversary Show series is the longest-running annual professional wrestling show, starting in 1934.
Los Ingobernables de Japón, also shortened to L.I.J., is a Japanese professional wrestling stable, based in the New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) promotion and led by Tetsuya Naito. An offshoot of the Mexican stable Los Ingobernables from the Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) promotion, the group was formed in November 2015 by Naito, Bushi and Evil, but has since come to also include Sanada, Hiromu Takahashi, and Shingo Takagi; Evil is the only member to have left the stable, in July 2020. Through NJPW's working relationship with other companies, they have also appeared in CMLL and in the American Ring of Honor (ROH) promotion. Member Shingo Takagi is the current IWGP World Heavyweight Champion in his first reign.

Los Mercenarios is a villainous professional wrestling stable performing in Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide (AAA), consisting of Rey Escorpión, Taurus, and La Hiedra. It originally also included La Máscara and El Hijo del Fantasma who have since left AAA. Los Mercenarios founder La Máscara stated out that it would be a stable similar to CMLL's Los Ingobernables, a group he was a member of for years prior to working for AAA.
Homenaje a Dos Leyendas (2019) is a major professional wrestling supercard event, produced and scripted by Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre that took place on March 15, 2019. The show, like all of CMLL's major shows took place in Arena México, Mexico City, Mexico, CMLL's home venue. The event was to honor and remember CMLL founder Salvador Lutteroth, who died in March 1987. Starting in 1999 CMLL honored not just their founder during the show, but also a second lucha libre legend, making it their version of a Hall of Fame event. For the 2019 show CMLL commemorated the life and career of wrestler Blue Demon. This was the 21st March show held under the Homenaje a Dos Leyendas name, having previously been known as Homenaje a Salvador Lutteroth from 1996 to 1998.

It was the last AAA PPV event held before the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, which began in mid-March 2020.

For the tournament, eight tag teams competed in a single elimination tournament, with the preliminary rounds taking place on June 7 and 14, with the final match on June 21. All teams were made up of family members.
