Inquoris Desmond Chade Johnson [1] (born February 12, 1986) [1] [2] is an American motivational speaker and former college football player. His football career ended in 2006 at the University of Tennessee with an injury that permanently paralyzed his right arm. [3] [4] Johnson studied psychology and became a motivational speaker. [5] [6] He was the keynote speaker at the Greater Knoxville Sports Hall of Fame induction ceremony. [7]

Early life

Johnson grew up in a home of 14 people in the Kirkwood neighborhood of Atlanta, Georgia. [8] The son of Ruby Kay Lewis and stepfather Ricky Lewis Sr., he was a football player at Alonzo A. Crim Comprehensive High School. [8] [9]

College

Johnson graduated from the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor's of Arts degree in political science from the College of Arts and Sciences in 2007, and a Master's degree in sport psychology in 2009 from the College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences. [10]

Personal life

Johnson is a Christian. [11] Johnson is married to Allison Johnson. They have two children. [10]

He finished second to Paul Hornung in voting for the Heisman Trophy in 1956. After playing one season in the Canadian Football League (CFL), Majors became a college assistant coach. He served as the head coach at Iowa State University (1968–1972), the University of Pittsburgh, and Tennessee (1977–1992), compiling a career college football record of 185–137–10. His 1976 Pittsburgh squad won a national championship after capping a 12–0 season with a victory in the Sugar Bowl. Majors was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame as a player in 1987.

The 1895 Tennessee Volunteers football team unofficially represented the University of Tennessee as an independent during the 1895 college football season. In October 1894, the Athletic Association had resolved to drop varsity football and look forward to baseball in the spring of 1895. These unofficial games, referred to as "The Lost Years", are not included in NCAA statistics or in official UT win–loss records. 1895 was the second and final student-coached team.

The 1999 Tennessee Volunteers football team represented the University of Tennessee in the 1999 NCAA Division I-A football season. The Volunteers offense scored 369 points while the defense allowed 194 points. Phillip Fulmer was the head coach and led the team to a 9-3 record. After securing an undefeated national championship in the previous season, Tennessee lost to SEC East arch-rival Florida, and saw Arkansas get revenge for their loss in Knoxville in 1998, beating the Vols by exactly the same score of 28-24. Tennessee also lost to Nebraska in the Fiesta Bowl.
