The Interagency Advisory Panel on Responsible Conduct of Research (PRCR) is a creation of the three research funding agencies of the Government of Canada: CIHR, NSERC and SSHRC. [1]
The PRCR publishes the Tri-Agency Framework: Responsible Conduct of Research ("The Framework"). The PRCR collaborative objective is "to ensure a coherent and uniform approach for promoting responsible conduct of research and for addressing allegations of breaches of Tri-Agency Policies". [1]
The Framework document "describes policies and requirements related to applying for and managing Agency funds, performing research, and disseminating results, and the processes that institutions and agencies follow in the event of an allegation of a breach of an Agency policy." [2]

The Environmental Quality Improvement Act of 1970 is a United States environmental law which was passed to work in conjunction with the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (NEPA). One of the two major purposes of the Act was to authorize the creation of an Office of Environmental Quality to provide the professional and administrative staff needed for the Council on Environmental Quality. The second major purpose was to "assure that each Federal department and agency conducting or supporting public works activities which affect the environment shall implement the policies under existing law". To accomplish these purposes, the act gave more responsibilities to the chairman of the Council on Environmental Quality in his new role as director of the Office of Environmental Quality.

The Interagency Advisory Panel on Research Ethics was formed in 2001 by three of the research funding agencies of the Government of Canada: CIHR, NSERC and SSHRC. The Panel "develops, interprets and implements the Tri-Council Policy Statement: Ethical Conduct for Research Involving Humans" (TCPS), as updated in 2014, and the Tri-Agency Framework: Responsible Conduct of Research, which was updated in 2016, and again in 2021. The Tri-Agency Research Integrity Policy also dictates the conduct of federally-funded researchers.
