Story

On 28 and 29 August 1948, mountain rescue experts from various countries came to Wilder Kaiser in Austria at the invitation of the Austrian Alpine Club. During the conferences during this meeting, experiences and knowledge on mountain rescue were exchanged. This meeting led to the establishment of the international organization International Committee for Alpine Rescue (ICAR) in 1955. In 2022, ICAR, which brings together mountain rescue services from various countries around the world, decided that mountain rescuers around the world should celebrate their holiday. The day of the holiday was announced as 28 August, which was the day of the international meeting of mountain rescuers in Wilder Kaiser (Kaisergebirge) in the Alps. [1] At the end of August, festivals are organized, during which mountain rescue organizations present rescue equipment and mountain rescue equipment, organize demonstrations of their activities, and promote and convey to viewers the most important rules of safety in mountain areas and on hiking trails [2] .
