The International Society for Chilean Music (SIMUC) is a non-profit organization that promotes Chilean art music, musicians and musicologists internationally. [1]
The SIMUC was founded by composer Javier Party, cellist Daygoro Serón and philologist Andrea Golsong in December 2015 in Vienna, Austria, from where it operates internationally.[ citation needed ] It has around 150 members from different countries, most of them are Chilean musicians. [2]
The first concert organized by the SIMUC took place on June 29 of 2016 in Vienna, Austria. It was a Liederabend with 12 pieces from 10 Chilean composers of the last 100 years, born between 1884 and 1983. An unprecedented sample of Chilean music in the international capital of classical music. [3] [4]
The SIMUC organizes around eight concerts per year in different countries exclusively with Chilean repertoire.
The SIMUC produces MEC, a Podcast dedicated exclusively to Chilean Electronic Music. The first episode of the first season (MEC0101) was published on September 30 of 2016. The seasons have 10 episodes. Each episode is presented and programmed by a different expert from the Chilean electroacoustic music community.
The International Society for Chilean Music publishes the Reporte Elgueta monthly, a selection of international news of Chilean classical musicians, as well as two bimonthly columns: Enfoque, dedicated to articles on the Chilean classical music scene written by musicologists, composers, journalists and researchers, and a more personal column where Chilean performers abroad write about their own experience. In 2019 the SIMUC published the album Chilean Art Song: The Last 100 Years, a representative compilation the genre in Chile with 12 pieces by 10 Chilean composers of the last 100 years.
SIMUC's database includes quite detailed lists of Chilean musicians abroad, Chilean composers, works by Chilean composers and data on SIMUC's activities. In 2022, the organization presented a comprehensive report with the data contained in its extensive database, a repository full of information on musicians, composers, institutions and the vocations of Chileans in the field of classical music worldwide. This report was visualized and translated into English in the year 2023. [5] The organization also details other projects related to the non-profit such as Reporte Elgueta, concerned with "news about Chilean musicians around the world."
A composer is a person who writes music. The term is especially used to indicate composers of Western classical music, or those who are composers by occupation. Many composers are, or were, also skilled performers of music.
A concert is a live music performance in front of an audience. The performance may be carried by a single musician, sometimes then called a recital, or by a musical ensemble, such as an orchestra, choir, or band. Concerts are held in a wide variety and size of settings, from private houses and small nightclubs, dedicated concert halls, amphitheatres and parks, to large multipurpose buildings, such as arenas and stadiums. Indoor concerts held in the largest venues are sometimes called arena concerts or amphitheatre concerts. Informal names for a concert include show and gig.
Chilean music refers to all kinds of music developed in Chile, or by Chileans in other countries, from the arrival of the Spanish conquistadors to the modern day. It also includes the native pre-Columbian music from what is today Chilean territory.
The music of Guatemala is diverse. Music is played all over the country. Towns also have wind and percussion bands that play during the lent and Easter-week processions as well as on other occasions. The marimba is an important instrument in Guatemalan traditional songs. The Répertoire International des Sources Musicales is an international non-profit organization, founded in Paris in 1952, with the aim of comprehensively documenting extant historical sources of music all over the world. It is the largest organization of its kind and the only entity operating globally to document written musical sources. RISM is one of the four bibliographic projects sponsored by the International Musicological Society and the International Association of Music Libraries, Archives and Documentation Centres, the others being Répertoire International de Littérature Musicale, Répertoire international d'iconographie musicale, and Répertoire international de la presse musicale.

The International Alliance for Women in Music (IAWM) is an international membership organization of women and men dedicated to fostering and encouraging the activities of women in music, particularly in the areas of musical activity, such as composing, performing, and research, in which gender discrimination is a historic and ongoing concern. In the U.S. the organization operates as a 501(c)3 non-profit. The IAWM engages in efforts to increase the programming of music by female composers, to combat discrimination against female musicians, including as symphony orchestra members, and to include accounts of the contributions of women musicians in university music curricula and textbooks.

The Society of Authors, Composers and Music Publishers in Israel, known by the acronym ACUM, is a non-profit copyright collective which engages in collective rights management for authors, poets, lyricists, composers, arrangers, and music publishers in Israel. As a member of the International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers (CISAC), ACUM is affiliated with more than 100 similar rights organizations around the world, with which it engages in reciprocal royalty collection agreements. It also holds an annual prize ceremony which honors authors and musicians in many categories, including lifetime achievement.
Polo Osvaldo Ernesto Piatti is a British-Argentine neo-romantic composer, concert pianist and conductor. He is one of very few high-profile international musicians concentrating exclusively on the creation, performance and promotion of melodic, universally appealing classical music. His compositions are performed all over the world for their evocative and passionate character. Considered a pioneer performer of classical piano improvisations since his youth, he toured Europe, Asia, North and South America premiering his own works as a soloist, performing with international orchestras. Piatti is a member of the Royal Society Of Musicians Of Great Britain, the Ivors Academy and the British Music Society among others.
