The International Society of Doctors for the Environment (ISDE) is an NGO, founded at Cortona on 25 November 1990, by doctors of various nationalities, in order to gather all doctors interested in medical problems related to ecological problems, spread awareness of the connection between environmental pollution and human health, start and support initiatives from local to global levels, and to reduce or eliminate sources of pollution and environmental pollution. ISDE has consultative status with the WHO and the United Nations Economic and Social Council. [1]

Environmental protection is the practice of protecting the natural environment by individuals, organizations and governments. Its objectives are to conserve natural resources and the existing natural environment and, where possible, to repair damage and reverse trends.

Ministry of the Ecological Transition (France)

The Ministry of the Ecological Transition, commonly just referred to as Ministry of Ecology, is a department of the Government of France. Corinne Lepage French politician

Corinne Dominique Marguerite Lepage is a French politician. She served as French Minister of the Environment in the Alain Juppé cabinets 1 and II 1995–1997 and as Member of the European Parliament (MEP) 2009–2014 for the North-West constituency.

The Asociación Pola Defensa da Ría of Pontevedra, known as APDR, is a Galician local environmental non-governmental organisation created in 1987 to address the environmental degradation of Pontevedra's ria area. It has over 500 registered members and it holds minimal support in the local community.

The Institut national de recherche en sciences et technologies pour l'environnement et l'agriculture (IRSTEA), formerly known as Cemagref, was a public research institute in France focusing on land management issues, such as water resources and agricultural technology. From 1 January 2020 the IRSTEA merged with the INRA to create the INRAE.

Physicians for Social Responsibility (PSR) is a physician-led organization in the US working to protect the public from the threats of nuclear proliferation, climate change, and environmental toxins. It produces and disseminates publications, provides specialized training, offers written and oral testimony to congress, conducts media interviews, and delivers professional and public education. PSR’s members and e-activists, state and local chapters, student chapters, and national staff form a nationwide network that target what they consider threats to global survival, specifically nuclear warfare, nuclear proliferation, global warming, and toxic degradation of the environment.

Wastewater discharge standards in Latin America

Wastewater discharge standards protect water sources from pollution and mismanagement. Each country in Latin America has its own set of standards, and these vary according to types of water use, agricultural, industrial or recreational use. Water quality is maintained by controlling the physicochemical and bacteriological parameters. The majority of water laws include fines for noncompliance. In many cases fines are inadequate and do not stop offending. In other cases the standards are lax and monitoring is sub-par.

Charles de Lorme

Charles de Lorme, Delorme, d'lorm, or De l'Orme, was a French medical doctor who practiced in several regions across Europe during the 17th century. Charles was the son of Jean Delorme, who was the primary doctor to Marie de' Medici. This ultimately opened doors for Charles' medical career soon after he graduated from the University of Montpellier in 1607 at the age of 23. He first came to Paris after graduation to practice medicine under the watchful eye of his father, until he was ready to practice as a regular doctor on his own. There are no records of his marriages, except that he married for the third time at the age of 78. This wife died within a year.

Nature Protection Service (Spain)

The Nature Protection Service is a unit of the Spanish Civil Guard responsible for nature conservation and management of the hunting and fishing industry. It serves to carry out and oversee State provisions to preserve nature, the environment, water resources, and preserving wealth in hunting, fish farming, forestry and other nature related industries. They are also heavily involved in work against spills and contamination, illegal trade of protected species, unregulated hunting and fishing activities, protection of natural spaces, and prevention and extinction of fires.

The European Union of Medical Specialists is a professional organisation of doctors representing medical specialists in the European Union, which was founded in 1958. It is the oldest medical organization in Europe, and represents about 1.6 million medical specialists.. It promotes high levels of medical training and practice, to improve and guarantee the highest level of patientcare.

Legambiente is an Italian environmentalist association with roots in the anti-nuclear movement that developed in Italy and throughout the Western world in the second half of the '70s. Founded in 1980 as part of the ARCI, it later became and a stand-alone organisation. Originally known as Lega per l'ambiente, it changed name during the IV National Congress held in Parma in 1992. The mission of the association is to make the environmental culture the centre of a new kind of development and diffused well-being. Important values for the association are the improvement of environmental quality, the fight against all forms of pollution, a wise use of natural resources, the construction of a more balanced relationship between human beings and the nature. It is considered the most widespread environmental organisation in Italy, as it is composed by a national headquarter in Rome, 20 regional branches, about 1000 local groups and more than 115.000 members.

The International Union of Air Pollution Prevention and Environmental Protection Associations (IUAPPA) is an international federation of civil society organisations concerned with air pollution. IUAPPA, founded 1964 at the urging of the US Air Pollution Control Association, has 40 national organisations such as; the United States, Germany and Japan and has networks and representatives in most others countries. The Foundation is seen as one milestone in the "Ecological Revolution" in and around 1970.

Santé Environnement France (ASEF) is a non-governmental health and environmental organization founded in 2008 by two French doctors, Patrice Halimi and Pierre Souvet. It currently brings together more than 2 500 health professionals and has been recognized as a public interest organization.

Rodolfo Lacy Tamayo

Rodolfo Lacy Tamayo, is an environmental engineer and a civil servant of México.Since December 2012 he has been Undersecretary of Planning and Environmental Policy in the Ministry of the Environment and Natural Resources (SEMARNAT) and has been appointed Director of the Environment Directorate at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development OECD.

Olivier Dubuquoy

Olivier Dubuquoy is a French geographer, documentarist and environmental activist known for his denunciation of the pollution of the Mediterranean by red sludge and his advocacy for an end to our dependency on fossil fuels deemed responsible for global warming. He is the founder of the citizens' movement Nation Océan and the society for the preservation of the marine environment ZEA.
