Isaac Dion Smith (born October 9, 2004) is an American college football safety for the Mississippi State Bulldogs.
Smith attended Itawamba Agricultural High School located in Fulton, Mississippi. Coming out of high school, Smith was rated as a four-star recruit, where he held offers from schools such as Florida, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Mississippi State, Texas A&M, and USC. [1] [2] Ultimately, Smith decided to commit to play college football for the Mississippi State Bulldogs. [3] [4]
During Smith's first collegiate season in 2023, he appeared in all 12 games for the Bulldogs, where he totaled 15 tackles on the season. [5] [6] In week one of the 2024 season, Smith had a breakout game getting the start, where he tallied 11 tackles and a pass deflection in a season-oppening win over the Eastern Kentucky Colonels. [7] In week four, Smith notched seven tackles and a forced fumble through just three quarters after leaving with a concussion, in a loss versus the Florida Gators. [8] In week five, Smith missed Mississippi State's matchup with the #1 Texas Longhorns, after getting concussed in the previous game. [9]
Johnie Earl Cooks was an American professional football player who was a linebacker for 10 seasons in the National Football League (NFL). Cooks was selected by the Baltimore Colts as the second overall pick in the 1982 NFL draft. He played from 1982 to 1991 for the Colts, New York Giants, and Cleveland Browns. He was a member of the Giants when they defeated the Buffalo Bills 20–19 in Super Bowl XXV. Cooks played college football for the Mississippi State Bulldogs.
The Mississippi State Bulldogs football program represents Mississippi State University in the sport of American football. The Bulldogs compete in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the Western Division of the Southeastern Conference (SEC). They also have won one SEC championship in 1941 and a division championship in 1998. The Bulldogs have 26 postseason bowl appearances.
