Ishaq Gailani

Pir Ishaq Gailani (born 1954) is a member of Afghanistan's national legislature, the Wolesi Jirga. [1] He founded the National Solidarity Movement of Afghanistan. His family includes a number of Sufi religious leaders. [2]

Pir Ishaq Gailani has a nephew, Pir Sayed Ishaq Gailani, who has also been elected to the Wolesi Jirga, from Paktika Province, but for a different political party. [2] His grandson, Sayed Mohmood Hasamuddeen Al-Gailani, also served in the Wolesi Jirga, representing Ghazni. [3]

Sayed Ishaq Gailani

Sayed Ishaq Gailani is a politician in Afghanistan representing Paktika province in the Wolesi Jirga, Afghanistan's lower house of parliament. He is the founder and chairman of the National Solidarity Movement of Afghanistan and currently serves on the Wolesi Jirga's International Relations committee. While still an influential member of the Gailani family, he has claimed leadership of the family and adopted the title Pir. Some of his family recognizes his uncle, Ahmed Gailani, as the leader of the family and the Qadiriyya Sufi order. The resulting dispute has created a feud between the two men.

Sayed Mohmood Hasamuddeen Al-Gailani was elected to represent Ghazni Province in Afghanistan's Wolesi Jirga, the lower house of its National Legislature, in 2005. He is from the Pashtun ethnic group. He is a grandson of Pir Gailani, a prominent Sufi, and leader of an Afghan political party.

'Ali Akbar Qasimi was elected to represent Ghazni Province in Afghanistan's Wolesi Jirga, the lower house of its National Legislature, in 2005. He is a member of the Hazara ethnic group. He is a General in the Afghan National Army, and was a former commander of the 14th Division, which was garrisoned in Ghazni.

Mohammad Daoud Sultanzoy, is an Afghan politician, pilot and television presenter who served as Mayor of Kabul from 2020 to 2021; the Fall of Kabul (2021) occurred during his incumbency. He was previously elected to represent Ghazni Province in Wolesi Jirga, the lower house of its National Legislature, in 2005. He is a Pashtun from the Ghilzai tribe. He was spokesperson of Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai during 2019 elections.

Shah Gul Rezai was elected to represent Ghazni Province in Afghanistan's Wolesi Jirga, the lower house of its National Legislature, in 2005. She is a member of the Hazara ethnic group. She was a teacher from the Jaghori district.

Abdul Qayyum Sajjadi

Abdul Qayyum Sajjadi was elected to represent Ghazni Province in Afghanistan's Wolesi Jirga, the lower house of its National Legislature, in 2005. He is a member of the Hazara ethnic group. He speaks English and was the editor of a science journal prior to taking office.

Al-Haj Mamur Abdul Jabar Shilgari was elected to represent Ghazni Province in Afghanistan's Wolesi Jirga, the lower house of its National Legislature, in 2005. He belongs to the andar district of Ghazni province. Shilgari is one of the leading politicians and tribal leader from the province. He gained his reputation during the Afghan Jihad against the soviets. He is a former Mujahedin commander from Gulbuddin Hekmatyar's faction. He served in the Loya Jirga that drafted Afghanistan's new Constitution.

Obaidullah was elected to represent Kandahar Province in Afghanistan's Wolesi Jirga, the lower house of its National Legislature, in 2005. A report on Kandahar prepared at the Navy Postgraduate School stated he was a high school graduate, that he served on the Economic committee, and that there was a controversy in his election.

Fariba Ahmadi Kakar was elected to represent Kandahar Province in Afghanistan's Wolesi Jirga, the lower house of its National Legislature, in 2005. Born in 1965 in Kandahar, a report on Kandahar prepared at the Navy Postgraduate School stated she was a "self-educated teacher" and a member of the Pashtun ethnic group. She sits on the Communications Committee. In August 2013, while travelling with her children in Gazni, Afghanistan, she was kidnapped by the Taliban who demanded the release of four Taliban prisoners in exchange for the release of Mrs Kakar. On 8 September 2013, she was freed in return for the release of several family members of Taliban fighters held in captivity.

Mohammad Arif Noorzai

Mohammad Arif Noorzai was a former minister of Border and Tribe Affairs for Afghanistan. He was elected to represent Kandahar Province in Afghanistan's Wolesi Jirga, the lower house of its National Legislature, in 2005. He is the first deputy speaker of Afghanistan Wolesi Jirga and his current position is the Advisor of President Hamid Karzai for security and tribal affairs He is a member of the Pashtun ethnic group, and the Noorzai tribe. A report on Kandahar prepared at the Navy Postgraduate School stated he is first deputy speaker, and that he is related to President Hamid Karzai through marriage, and that he is a high school graduate.

Fauzia Gailani

Fauzia Gailani was elected to represent Herat Province in Afghanistan's Wolesi Jirga, the lower house of its National Legislature, in 2005. She won almost 16,885 votes, more than any other candidate in Herat.

Al-Haj Sahib Rahman was elected to represent Kunar Province in Afghanistan's Wolesi Jirga, the lower house of its National Legislature, in 2005. He was assassinated by a suicide bomber on November 6, 2007.

Mawlawi Shahzada Shahid was elected to represent Kunar Province in Afghanistan's Wolesi Jirga, the lower house of its National Legislature, in 2005.

Jamil Karzai Born Kandahar 1976 age 46.He was elected to represent Kabul Province in Afghanistan's Wolesi Jirga, the lower house of its National Legislature, in 2005. A report on Kabul prepared at the Navy Postgraduate School stated Jamil Karzai is a second cousin to President Hamid Karzai, President of Afghanistan. It stated he was head of the National Youth Solidarity Party. It stated he sat on the Internal Security Committee.
