Island Sports Media is a Hawaii sport news organization.
Island Sports Media Magazine is published quarterly. [1] It is published by JAMK Photography owned by Steve Kajihiro in Everett, Washington. [2] The group also publishes a blog. [3]
The annual Island Sports Media Athlete of the Year Award is given to an athlete (of any sport) with a connection to the islands of Hawaii, who are outstanding athletes and role models both on and off the field. The winners are selected by a combination of votes from Island Sports Media writers and photographers, sponsors, various coaches, and fans.
Island Sports Media gave one award in its initial year of 2008 to David Veikune of the University of Hawaii football team. In 2009 the award included both a youth and collegiate level. Each category, after a nomination process, has three finalists. Fans are then able to vote for their favorite athlete with a portion of the vote counting. [4]

The ESPY Award for Best College Athlete, Men's Sports, known before 2021 as the Best Male College Athlete ESPY Award, is an annual award honoring the achievements of a male individual from the world of collegiate sports. The Temple News (TTN) is the editorially independent weekly newspaper of Temple University. It prints 6,000 copies to be distributed primarily on Temple's Main Campus every Tuesday. The 2009 Western Athletic Conference (WAC) football season was an NCAA football season played from September 3, 2009, to January 4, 2010. The Western Athletic Conference consists of 9 members: Boise State, Fresno State, Hawai'i, Idaho, Louisiana Tech, Nevada, New Mexico State, San Jose State, and Utah State. Boise State won the 2009 WAC title going 13–0, 8–0 in conference and were invited to play in the Fiesta Bowl, in which they defeated previously unbeaten TCU. Nevada, Fresno State, and Idaho also played in bowl games, the Hawaiʻi Bowl, New Mexico Bowl, and Humanitarian Bowl, respectively. Nevada lost to SMU and Fresno State lost to Wyoming, while Idaho beat Bowling Green.
