Ismail Tosun (born 1975 in Bozcaada, Turkey) is an acclaimed Turkish Australian Celebrity chef [1] who was voted the best new talent in Australia. Tosun is the founder of Eminem, a Turkish restaurant in Nedlands which earned the title of best new talent in the country at the Australian Gourmet Traveller 2007 Restaurant Guide Awards. [2]

Biography

Tosun's father is from Turkey and his mother is from Cyprus. [3] His parents divorced when he was nine years old and he was raised by his mothers parents in Melbourne till he was sixteen. Tosun's grandfather was a butcher and his grandmother was a housewife which inspired him to become a chef as food was a central part of life. [4]

Tosun got a job washing dishes in Sydney Road in Melbourne for $60 a week at the age of sixteen. He then started an apprenticeship in an Ottoman restaurant in Canberra where he worked under Australia's modern Turkish chef Şerif Kaya. He finally opened his acclaimed Eminem restaurant in Perth however shut it soon after being awarded 'best new talent' at the Australian Gourmet Traveler 2007 Restaurant Guide Awards.

After leaving Perth, Tosun travelled briefly to Istanbul. Upon his return to Australia, he settled in Collingwood, Victoria, and opened a new Turkish restaurant called Gigibaba. [5]

Matt is also well known in Australia as a judge and co-host of MasterChef Australia as well as on Celebrity MasterChef, Junior MasterChef, MasterChef Allstars and MasterChef: The Professionals. He is also the author of four best-selling cookbooks.

Kevin Thornton is an Irish celebrity chef, radio and television personality and author, known for featuring on television series such as Guerrilla Gourmet and Heat and characterised by a supposed dislike of chips and confirmed dislike of pizza. He has written a book, Food for Life, and had his recipes featured on the national radio station Newstalk. He has been praised by The New York Times and featured in publications such as The Dubliner and the Irish Independent.

The Ledbury Restaurant in London, England

The Ledbury is a restaurant located on Ledbury Road, Notting Hill, London, England. It held two Michelin stars from 2010 until 2020, when it lost them as they shut due to Covid-19 restrictions being impractical for the restaurant, making it ineligible for assessment by Michelin inspectors. Peter Gilmore is an Australian chef. He is the current executive chef of the Quay restaurant, which has been included in The World's 50 Best Restaurants since 2009, and the Bennelong, at The Sydney Opera House. He is sometimes a guest on Masterchef Australia, where his signature dessert the "Snow Egg" was touted as one of the toughest Masterchef challenges. He is now the executive chef at Bennelong.

Bennett currently serves as the creative director at the restaurant and its parent company Vue Groups, having previously been the executive chef. Greenhouse was a bar/restaurant at 100 St Georges Terrace in Perth, Western Australia. Designed by Dutch-born florist, artist, builder and environmentalist Joost Bakker, and opened in 2009, it is a "quirky, eco-friendly restaurant" concept, which has been described as "... a breath of fresh air and a brilliant example of innovation in the restaurant sector." The head chef at Greenhouse was Matt Stone.

Jock Zonfrillo is a Scottish television presenter and former chef currently based in Melbourne, Australia. He is the founder of The Orana Foundation and one of the current MasterChef Australia judges alongside Andy Allen and Melissa Leong.
