Isobel Abulhoul OBE , is the chief executive officer and trustee of the Emirates Literature Foundation. [1]

Isobel Abulhoul came to Dubai in 1968 [2] and co-founded Magrudy’s, a bookshop chain, in 1975. [3] [4] In 2008, she was founding director of the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature. [5]

In 2013, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, founded the Emirates Literature Foundation, naming Isobel as one of the trustees on the Board. In addition, Isobel also holds the position of chief executive officer of the foundation. She is also Director of the Board for the Mohammed Bin Rashid Library.

She co-hosts ‘Talking of Books’ on Dubai Eye 103.8 FM.

Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum is the Minister of Finance of the United Arab Emirates, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Media Incorporated. He was named as deputy ruler in February 2008 when his elder brother Hamdan was made crown prince. He served as deputy ruler alongside his uncle Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum until the latter's death in March 2021. The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF) was founded on May 19, 2007 by Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. Sheikh Mohammed stated that the money is meant to bridge the knowledge gap between the Arab region and the developed world, improving the standard of education and research in the region, developing leadership programs for youth, and stimulating job creation.
