The Israeli municipality merger of November 2003 was a merger of various select municipalities under the Israeli system of local governance.
The mergers were heavily criticized within the Arab and Druze sectors. A major Druze merger, called City of Five, including Abu Snan, Julis, Kafr Yasif, Yanuh-Jat and Yarka, fell through. Two other mergers (Carmel City and Shaghur) were eventually reverted.
Gush Dan or Tel Aviv metropolitan area is a conurbation in Israel, located along the country's Mediterranean coastline. There is no single formal definition of Gush Dan, though the term is in frequent use by both governmental bodies and the general public. It ranges from combining Tel Aviv with cities that form an urban continuum with it, to the entire areas from both the Tel Aviv District and the Central District, or sometimes the whole Metropolitan Area of Tel Aviv, which includes a small part of the Southern District as well. Gush Dan is the largest conurbation and metropolitan area in Israel and the center of Israel's financial and High technology sector. The metropolitan area having an estimated population of 4,156,900 residents, 89% of whom are Israeli Jews.
Yehud is a city in the Central District of Israel that is part of the joint municipality of Yehud-Monosson. In 2007, the city's population stood at approximately 30,000 people.
Neve Monosson, also known as Neve Efraim and Neve Efraim Monosson, commonly called Monosson by its residents, is a municipal borough within the joint municipality of Yehud-Monosson in central Israel. In 2003 it had a population of 2,600 but its population is growing considerably due to the ongoing implementation of the Tamar Project, within which 200 family apartments are being replaced by 800 family apartments within a residents-initiated Pinui-Binui Project; this project is expected to almost double the population of Monosson.
Yehud-Monosson is a city formed by the joint municipality of the town of Yehud and the neighboring communal settlement of Neve Monosson in central Israel. In 2022 the city had a population of 31,405.
Modi'in-Maccabim-Re'ut is a city located in central Israel, about 35 kilometres (22 mi) southeast of Tel Aviv and 30 kilometres (19 mi) west of Jerusalem, and is connected to those two cities via Highway 443. In 2022 the population was 99,171. The population density in that year was 1,794 people per square kilometer.
Carmel City was a short-lived city in the Haifa District of Israel, named after its location on Mount Carmel.
Binyamina-Giv'at Ada is a town in the Haifa District of Israel. It is the result of the 2003 merger between the two local councils of Binyamina and Giv'at Ada. In 2022 its population was 16,281. Before the merger, the population of Binyamina was 6,600.

Bnei Atarot is a moshav in the Central District of Israel. Located near Yehud, around 15 kilometres east of Tel Aviv, it is situated in fertile plains at the eastern rim of Tel Aviv metropolitan area next to Ben Gurion Airport and falls under the jurisdiction of Hevel Modi'in Regional Council. In 2022 it had a population of 934.
Magshimim is a moshav in central Israel. Located near Yehud, it falls under the jurisdiction of Drom HaSharon Regional Council. In 2022 it had a population of 1,091.
Be'erot Yitzhak is a religious kibbutz in central Israel. Located near Yehud, it falls under the jurisdiction of Hevel Modi'in Regional Council. In 2022 it had a population of 465. Kibbutz Be'erot Yitzhak was originally located in the Negev, near Gaza. In 1952, after the kibbutz was destroyed and abandoned in the Battle of Be'erot Yitzhak, it was re-established in its current location south of Petah Tivka.

Rinatya is a moshav in central Israel. Located between Petah Tikva and Yehud, it falls under the jurisdiction of Hevel Modi'in Regional Council. In 2022 it had a population of 1,197.

Na'im Busofash is an Israeli weekend public transportation array that exists in 12 authorities in Gush Dan and outside of it – Givatayim, Kiryat Ono, Ramat HaSharon, Tel Aviv-Yafo, Shoham, Modi'in, Hod HaSharon, Kfar Saba, Mevaseret Zion, Ness Ziona, Herzliya, and Ra'anana.
Ben Shemen Forest is the largest forest in central Israel and one of the largest in the entire country, covering an area of 22,000 dunams. In the forest there are picnic spots, hiking and bicycle routes. It is located on both sides of Route 443, between the Ben Shemen Interchange and the city of Modi'in-Maccabim-Re'ut. The first trees were planted by the Jewish National Fund in 1908.
Municipal elections in Israel took place on 27 February 2024 amidst the ongoing Israel–Hamas war. In accordance with changes made in 2018, election day will be a paid day off work. All municipalities, local councils and regional councils will be up for election, as will their leaders. Top-two runoffs will be held in all localities where no leadership candidate won 40% or more of the vote in the first round.
