Issa Abdul-Hadi Al-Batran (died 2010) was a leader of Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas. He was killed by Israeli airstrike on July 30, 2010, at the Nuseirat refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip. [1] The Israeli army claimed that the targets were 'terror infrastructure' in Gaza. Batran's second wife reported that he went knowingly to his death, since he was incapable of overcoming his mourning for the loss of his first wife, Manal Sha’rawi, and their five children, Bilal, Izz Ad-Din, Ihsan, Islam and Eyman. They had been killed on 26 January 2009 by an Israeli shell strike on their balcony in Al-Bureij refugee camp, in an attempt to assassinate him. [2]

Al-Qassam Brigades, also known as the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, named after Izz ad-Din al-Qassam, is the military wing of the Palestinian nationalist Sunni Islamist organization Hamas. Led by Mohammed Deif until his presumed death on 13 July 2024, the Al-Qassam Brigades is the largest and best-equipped militia operating within the Gaza Strip in recent years.
Said Seyam, first name also spelled Saeed and Sayed and last name also spelled Siam, was the interior minister of the Palestinian government of March 2006. He joined Hamas and became one of its top commanders. During the 2008–2009 Gaza War, Seyam was killed in an Israeli airstrike in Jabalia. Seyam was the most senior Hamas member killed in the war, and the most senior Hamas figure killed by Israel since the death of Abdel Aziz al-Rantisi in April 2004.

Samih Madhoun, also transliterated Samih al-Madhoun and Sameh Alamdhon was a senior leader of the Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades, an armed group affiliated with the Palestinian political party Fatah. He was killed on 14 June 2007 in Nuseirat refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip by the al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Hamas movement.

Ahmed al-Jabari, also known as Abu Mohammad, was a senior leader and second-in-command of the military wing of Hamas, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades. He was widely credited as the leading figure in the Hamas takeover of the Gaza Strip, and commanded the 2006 Hamas cross-border raid which resulted in the capture of Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit. Under his command, along with chief logistics officer Mahmoud al-Mabhouh, Hamas developed its own military weapons capability significantly by acquiring longer-range guided missiles and rockets.
