Issoufou Saidou-Djermakoye (born 10 July 1920 in Dosso, Niger; died 30 June 2000 in Paris) was a politician from Niger who was elected to the French Senate in 1958. He was later United Nations Under-Secretary-General in charge of the Department of Political Affairs, Trusteeship and Decolonization. [1]
Niger or the Niger, officially the Republic of the Niger, is a landlocked country in West Africa. It is a unitary state bordered by Libya to the northeast, Chad to the east, Nigeria to the south, Benin and Burkina Faso to the southwest, Mali to the west, and Algeria to the northwest. The Niger uranium forgeries were forged documents initially released in 2001 by SISMI, which seem to depict an attempt made by Saddam Hussein in Iraq to purchase yellowcake uranium powder from Niger during the Iraq disarmament crisis. On the basis of these documents and other indicators, the governments of the United States and the United Kingdom asserted that Iraq violated United Nations sanctions against Iraq by attempting to procure nuclear material for the purpose of creating weapons of mass destruction.
