The Isthmus Bowl is an annual NCAA Division III post-season college football bowl game sponsored by Culver's and established in 2021 by the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) and the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW). [1] Both conferences are eligible for postseason play and each of the 18 football-playing institutions is eligible to participate in the Isthmus Bowl. [2] The team that places highest in each conference's standings and does not qualify for the NCAA Division III playoffs is typically chosen to represent their conference. The game is played at Bank of Sun Prairie Stadium in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. [3]

The inaugural game was held on Saturday, November 20, 2021, at Verona Area High School (Verona, Wisconsin) with Wisconsin–River Falls defeating Washington University 48–27. [4]

Lance Leipold is an American college football coach who is the head football coach at the University of Kansas, a position he has held since 2021. Steve Freeman is an American men's college ice hockey coach. He has been the men's ice hockey head coach at Wisconsin–River Falls since 1996.

Maxwell Meylor is an American football quarterback for the Green Bay Blizzard of the Indoor Football League (IFL). He played college football for Lindenwood before transferring to Wisconsin–Whitewater where he was named WIAC Offensive Player of the Year his senior year. He also played for Alabama Airborne of the Major League Football (MLFB).

Two human polls and a committee's selections comprise the 2024 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III football rankings for the 2024 season. Unlike in Division I's Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS), the NCAA, Division III's college football's governing body, bestows a national championship on the winner of the Stagg Bowl – the championship round of a 32-team postseason tournament. The main weekly poll that begins in the preseason is the D3football.com Poll which ranks the top 25 colleges in Division III football. For the first time in AFCA history they released a preseason poll for DIII in 2024.
