Dr. Itzhak Gerberg serves as Ambassador of Israel to New Zealand [1] since 2016 and Non-Resident to the Cook Islands, Samoa and Tonga. [2] He also served as Ambassador to Georgia (2007-2012), concurrently to Mozambique, Namibia, Zambia, Botswana and Malawi (2002-2003), [3] and Zimbabwe (1999-2002). [1]
Gerberg has also served as Consul General in Shanghai (1996-1997) and Bombay (1992-1996) and Manila [1985-1989). [2]
He earned a B.A. in Political Science from University of Tel-Aviv, a M.A. in Mass Communications from the Hebrew University, a master's degree in political science from Haifa University (1999) and a PhD in international politics from the University of South Africa (2009). [2]
Dore Gold is an American-Israeli political scientist and diplomat who served as Permanent Representative of Israel to the United Nations from 1997 to 1999. He is currently the President of the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs. He was also an advisor to the former Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during his first term in office. In May 2015, Netanyahu named him Director-General of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From June 2015 until October 2016 he served as Director-General of the Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

He was Director of the Americas Division in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade from 2002 to 2005, and has served on the Boards of the New Zealand-United States Council, Fulbright New Zealand, the Ian Axford Fellowships, and the New Zealand Centre for Latin American Studies. Ferguson previously served in Washington as Deputy Chief of Mission between 1991 and 1995. From 1999 to 2002 he served as the New Zealand Ambassador to South Korea and concurrently served as Ambassador to North Korea from 2001. He has also served in Manila and Canberra.
