Ivan Boumans, born in November 1983 in Madrid, Spain, is a Spanish/Luxembourgish musician, composer, conductor and teacher.
Born in Madrid in 1983, he begins his music studies (piano & clarinet) at the Conservatory of Cuenca, a city in central Spain. In 1998, he moves to Luxembourg, country of his father. He immediately enrols the Conservatoire de Luxembourg, expanding his music interests. It is there where (among piano, organ, music history, chamber music and many other subjects…) he discovers his interest in music theory. His studies in Luxembourg will lead him to be accepted in the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris (CNSMDP) following the harmony, fugue, counterpoint, XXth century music writing, orchestration, analysis & conducting classes. His studies in Paris have been rewarded with a final Master Diploma on Music Writing in June 2011.
The positive Luxembourgish music environment has allowed him to work as free-lance composer since 1999. His catalogue of works contains more than 150 pieces of several music styles going from chamber music works, film music or symphonic pieces. His works have been performed all through Europe, USA, China and Russia, by ensembles like the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra or the Orchestre National de France, among others.
He currently teaches in the Music Theory Department of the Music Conservatory of Luxembourg, activity that he combines with other composition & conducting projects as a Freelancer.
He has received a "Composer Award" by the International Classical Music Awards in January 2020.
Pablo Martín Melitón de Sarasate y Navascués, commonly known as Pablo de Sarasate, was a Spanish (Navarrese) violinist, composer and conductor of the Romantic period. His best known works include Zigeunerweisen, the Spanish Dances, and the Carmen Fantasy.

Jesús Guridi Bidaola was a Spanish Basque composer who was a key player in 20th-century Spanish and Basque music. His style fits into the late Romantic idiom, directly inherited from Wagner, and with a strong influence from Basque culture. Among his best-known works are the zarzuela El Caserío, the opera Amaya, the orchestral work Ten Basque Melodies and his organ works, where the Triptych of the Good Shepherd can be highlighted.
Armando Santiago is a Canadian composer, conductor, music educator, and university administrator of Portuguese birth. A member of the Canadian League of Composers, his compositional output includes a considerable amount of orchestral works and chamber works. From 1974 to 1978 he was the director of the Conservatoire de musique du Québec à Trois-Rivières and from 1978 to 1985 he was the director of the Conservatoire de musique du Québec à Québec.
Joseph Daussoigne-Méhul was a French composer and music educator. He served as the first director of the Royal Conservatory of Liège from 1826–1862; having been appointed to that post by William I of the Netherlands. In addition to his duties as director, he also taught courses in harmony and composition at the school. Among his notable pupils were Adolphe and Caroline Samuel, César Franck, and Jean-Théodore Radoux, the latter of whom succeeded him as conservatory director. In 1859, he was made a Commander of the Order of Leopold.
Tolia Nikiprowetzky was a French composer and musicologist of Russian birth. His compositions include four operas ; a symphony ; concertos for saxophone, piano, cello, and trumpet; a piece for wind quintet and string orchestra; two large religious works ; a few cantatas; several pieces for solo piano; and numerous chamber works among others. Some of his works experimented with serialism, electronic music, and reflected his interest in African music.
Józef Wieniawski was a Polish pianist, composer, conductor and teacher. He was born in Lublin, the younger brother of the famous violinist Henryk Wieniawski. After Franz Liszt, he was the first pianist to publicly perform all the études by Chopin. He appeared with Liszt in recitals in Paris, London, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Brussels, Leipzig and Amsterdam.
Miguel Ángel Roig-Francolí is a Spanish/American composer, music theorist, and pedagogue. His 1980 Cinco piezas para orquesta, commissioned by Radio Nacional de España and written in a postmodern, neotonal style, won first prize in the National Composition Competition of the Spanish Jeunesses Musicales in 1981 and second prize at the UNESCO International Rostrum of Composers in 1982, and continues to be widely performed in Spain. His later compositions often have spiritual themes and are based on sacred texts and the melodies of Gregorian chant. In 2016 he won the American Prize in Composition for Perseus, for symphonic band. An expert on Renaissance composers Tomás de Santa María, Antonio de Cabezón, and Tomás Luis de Victoria, he has published numerous scholarly articles and monographs and two textbooks. Roig-Francolí is a Distinguished Teaching Professor of Music Theory and Composition at the University of Cincinnati – College-Conservatory of Music.
Manuel Quiroga Losada was a Spanish violinist and composer. He was described by music critics as "the finest successor of Pablo de Sarasate", and he is sometimes referred to as "Sarasate's spiritual heir". Enrique Granados, Eugène Ysaÿe and other composers dedicated compositions to him. Violinists Ysaÿe, Fritz Kreisler, George Enescu, Mischa Elman and Jascha Heifetz, as well as composers such as Igor Stravinsky and Jean Sibelius, held Quiroga's artistry in great regard. Portuguese cellist Guilhermina Suggia described his playing of Tartini's Devil's Trill Sonata as "marvellous and flawless".
